There is noise about this on Seloc but no useful answers. I am getting my S1 ready for its trips to Donny. Whenever I go fast ( for me) the door mirrors flop inwards. I lock them in place with a couple of turns is duck tape.
Is it possible to tighten them up? I can remove the mirror from the door and get the glass out of the surround. The spring which holds the main assembly in place is tight and I fear breaking something removing it and I am not sure wht can be done once it is removed. I can buy two new mirrors, and get them sprayed but that is an expensive option…
Yeah its a bloody nightmare and as far as I know there is no was to adjust them. My original S1 mirrors were really tight, but I have had to replace a few over time and all the new ones have been a bit loose.
Might have this wrong but I know Ive had the same problem and saw the way the spring and the “arm” it pulls on are held to the mirror back by a self tapper and small washer.
The “arm” can easy come away from the washer when you use a strong spring.
I think a new (strong) spring and larger washer, stopping the arm coming away from the backshell fixed it for me …
Arm, spring and washer are all in place. It is not that part that flops, it is the bit under the rubber belows that is loose. I have found you cn get new ones for 10. Looks like that and a trip to the spray shop.
I also read the rumour about making the ball rough. Anyone managed to get on apart without breaking it? The spring is very tight.
I purchased a new mirror for £10. Chopped the mirror adjuster off and shortened the fixing pegs (just as Lotus do). I am getting sprayed but the finish of the new mirror has a slight texture, so it needs to be rubbed back and primed.
When it’s done I will be able to see people catching me on the track.
