Hi Jonny,

I have ordered the 8x 24" GT3 single exit with burnt tip, along with the eliminator kit and diffuser infill section. Basically what I think i need to know is do you remove all of the heat shielding? and do you have to drill any holes?

By the way love the look of yours have seen pics of it before and is very nice.

Simon at Brooke Kensington fitted mine last week. Top bloke and a top job. He did say that you might have to get a bit ‘agricultural’ at one point. And yes the majority of the heat shield goes…along with it’s weight which is simply replaced with noise!! If you need any specific pics let me know.

Hi Mark, Tahnks for that and if you have any pics of yours would be great have been searching for various pics and most of them from the USA it seems this system is most popular over there.

Thanks Mark, the stripes have gone…all I’ve got to do now is learn to drive Oh and new seats…I’ve asked Santa for new seats please!

I removed all of the heat sheilding but as I say I have a new manifold also. I have a little bit of wrap around the bend there but that’s about it. Done 6 track days on this set up and all good heat and noise wise (under 98dbs) . If you need any pics up loading let me know, from memory (many mods ago) I’m sure it’s a piece of cake.

I’m fitting one right now in the garage when I should be in bed with Mrs Coot

Nothing awkward so far, should have it done soon so will post up any notes I have.

Cheers,

Pete

Well that went easy enough.

You might be able to keep the heat shield if you are keeping the panels - I went the elimination kit.
To remove the largest piece of heat shield ( that goes behind the number plate I used some snips to start with then by pulling the shield away it tore in a nice clean line all the way across.

I did leave about an inch or so excess and this was then pushed back up to the bottom of the boot to protect that.

The right hand side of the shielding ( looking from the back of the car ) where the pipe will exit has to be trimmed away so the box fits.
Remove and discard the access panel piece that you use to drop the exhaust mounts out and trim the rest of the material away towards the back of the car / number plate area.

The left hand side of the shielding may need a few inches trimming so its not touching the box at all.

I also swapped the decat pipe for a sport cat - that was easy enough apart from one of the 2 bolts to the end of the manifold was a fiddle to get leverage on, bearing in mind the car wasnt jacked or on ramps, and I’d only gone down to the garage in the first place to get a beer.

Just need to fit the diffuser back on and give it a test this afternoon and see how it goes.

Cheers,

Pete

you might want to cut a piece of heat sheild the size of your number plate and mount it behind. They have been known to melt otherwise!

I’ve used a sheet of tin foil on the back of my number plate. Works perfectly and is invisible when the number plate is in place.

Used some of that spray glue that you get from craft shops etc.

Thanks for all the replies guys got some really helpfull info. Will let you know how we get on with it.

Almost forgot to ask Mark,if you have got any pics of your remaining heatshield then that would be great.

Thanks

Thought this question might come up so i took some pictures whilst i was fitting mine.

The first one shows heatshield removed. The top bit that looks a bit ragged is then tucked into the clam .

The second shows the side bit of heat shield that is left in place. You can just see a little bit of the top heat shield now tucked away.

That’s a nice job, it’s the only way to go imho. The exhaust trough the diffuser looks so much like an after thought. The S1 has it really going on…but Jims Eliminator Kit is a real work of art!

Chris, many thanks for that much appreciated, looks like a superb job and love the look of it.

I do have one last question on this, and it is do you have to drill holes into the diffuser to fit the eliminator kit?

I did one mine as i made a new centre section, but not normally as there are three holes already.

Cheers Chris underway with it now, will post some pics when its done.

Thanks for the help.

I have one of these for sale if anyone wants one.

Brand new, not been on a car.

All fitted now and am well pleased with it, so here is my review so far compare to the 2bular 6" Ultra that i took off …

2Bular 6" =
Extreamly loud,
Day to day you think it sounds good but actually its, lets say an aquired taste,as when not on sencond cam could be mistaken for just something with a loud exhaust but when on power sounds like my mates R1 bike (so suberb),
You could tap the throttle and get instant pops and bags whenever you want them, but everyone would see you coming!

So in summary I will miss the extrovert happenings of this system but…

2Bular 8x24" GT3 =

Almost sounds as standard on tickover,
Makes me appreciate the supercharger again,
at motorway speeds is almost silent inside,
when giving it some beans it opens up and although no where near as loud as the 6" has a distinctive and pleasing sound.
Visually looks superb, but i guess you love it or hate it.

Overall very pleased as usual a superb system from Jim, so if anyone wants a 6" ultrea for an Exige S then there is one going cheap…
