Put my spare wheels with ‘proper’ tyres on today for the first time
Never driven a Lotus without A048’s so wasn’t sure what to expect.
Pleasantly suprised
Obviously ultimate grip is not the same as is initial turn in but apart from that I couldn’t really tell the difference
Think I’ll leave them on for tootling around and save the A048’s for the track
So if you’re worried about ‘normal’ tyres spoiling your Exige - don’t !!!

Out of interest, what proper tyres do you have? Guessing T1R’s or F1’s
I’m still waiting on Yokohama to start stocking our sizes in the AD08’s before I go to almost proper tyres.
Neither - I went with some Uniroyal Rainsport 2. Got a great price from my friends at ETS in Derby.
205 fronts and 225 rears.
I’ve been using these since 2009, as I use my Exige as a daily driver, still on the same fronts and 2nd set of rears.
fronts have now covered approx 20k and have 5mm tread left. the rears this time round have travelled 11k miles so far and have 4mm tread left. I adjusted my tyre pressures this time round and have got more mileage out of them.
These tyres are awesome in the wet…you can go at full pelt round roundabouts and fast bends without any fear of them letting go.
I even did Anglesey last year on them…but after 20mins they go off…not so good then on track, but I did find their limits…a few times
22 front and 24 rears for road use regardless of temp…I check the pressures once every week, as its a daily driver.
If i’ve gone for a really hard fast road blast I check the next day.
The tread on the inner side of the tyres is 1mm less then the outer side, but this is down to the geo.
Also I noticed a big difference when I switched over from the A048s, I was a bit nervous at 1st, especially as the sidewalls are softer than the 48s. I tend to go into corners hard.
I’ve got used to them though and they have very good levels of grip on the road.
I think I am gona give the AD08s a try though when the rears finally go.
