Well, now I have the car theres only a cuople of things I need to ask about!
Firstly, when I open the rear hatch, theres a kind of loud creaky noise that I think is coming from the hinges - any quick fix? I think it might only do it when its hot.
Second is, what induction kit is the blue cylinder one?
Finally, what sort of AUX input socket does the DAB 54 have on the back, is it phonos or done via a CD Changer socket? Want to get the iPod plugged in.
What a machine anyway, still grinning every time I see it!
Cheers,
JJ
Cheers Brendan, one cable ordered. Its the second one that fits the Woodstock DAB54 as it has 2 AUX inputs.
There are no creaks when driving atall, just when I open the boot so using 2nd cam doesnt really work! I think it might be to do with the gas strut getting hot?
[censored], I’ve just ordered the first type of cable. The site says it’s not suitable for the DAB52/53. Doesn’t mention the 54. Are you sure of which one we need?
If you go to the mainpage on bluespot.co.uk and select the Woodstock DAB 54 from the dropdown menu, it comes up with all the things they sell that are compatible with the DAB 54. The pink one is the one that it shows as compatible. Also, if you press the Source button on the headunit, it goes through TUNER - AUX 1 - AUX 2 so its definately the one which is “for headunits with two aux inputs”.

Ah, I see. That’s great! I can use the 1st aux input as I don’t have a cd changer. Saved myself 50p by choosing that one
Brendan, I think it is only the second one that is compatible (not had time yet to take HU out for a look), but my cable will be here today and I`ll fit it tonight so one of us will have the right one no matter what!
Hinges only creak when hot, so it must just be expansion of a bit in the hinges.
I used the proper extration tools which were supplied with the radio. I found mine inside the case for the radio’s front panel. This was stuffed in a slot in the boot, attached to the rear of the battery. Maybe you should look there for yours?
I have all the stuff that came with the radio, (stickers, manual, card, wee bag) but no tools. Ill check the toolkit tonight. If not ill try and make somethin out of a coathanger!
Maybe. The ends of the tool are quite precisely shaped to hook into the radio, but that’s probably just so it grips the stereo so it can be used to pull at the same time as unlocking the clips.
Make sure you look inside the hard plastic case for the front panel.
I’ve just finished my iPod installation in my car. I’ve added one of THESE, but instead of plugging it into the lighter socket, I wired a power cable directly into it. I also bypassed the built in amp, wiring the audio out directly.
This keeps the iPod charged up on long journeys and as a bonus, it automatically pauses the music when you switch off the ignition. I couldn’t find a suitable place to mount the iPod, so it just sits in the tray under the dash. Nice and discreet.
