FEV Extinguishers

Superb - serviced, refilled & returned back to me within 48 hours :sunglasses:

Thought it about time it was done - system was new in October 2007 (recommended service every 1-2 years), & not much point having it in the car if you’re not 100% it’s up to scratch.

Is it plumbed in solely for your car, or a hand held jobbie?

Plumbed in, & it’s the electric activation, gas type Tim.

From expierience id recomend having a hand held one as well :astonished:

Would that be for the trailer?

No… he is talking about wanki.g!!

You have probably forgotton what a ‘plumbed in’ one is like too!!!

I so want one of these in my car… try getting it serviced from NZ though!!! :frowning:

Also, Motorsport NZ don’t recognise Gas-type extinguishers as being compliant,t hey have to be dry powder or foam… despite gas being pretty much the international gold standard these days.

GAH!

Perhaps I should contact F.E.V about becoming a NZ sales agent?

That’s a bugger, George.

Is it the same in Oz too?

It (any type of system) must be worth installing, whilst you’re still undertaking your project. No doubt you’ll contact Tony @ FEV & see if they can help.

Good luck, & keep us posted (as usual), please.

how much is a service on them pesky, mine needs doing now.

Don’t know about Oz.

Here in NZ the motorsport guys are just very slow at catching onto new safety initiatives… they just do what they’ve always done. I mean F1, WRC, V8 Supercars, WTCC etc ALL use gas now… but in NZ it doesn’t meet the appropriate standard! As such, nobody stocks them because an extinguisher that doesn’t meet the local motorsport regulations is pretty much unsaleable… and as a result there’s nobody here to service them :frowning:

Chris

158 + 9 next day return courier, both subject to VAT = total 196.22.

I look at it like I do at insurance…expensive if not required, but cheap in the event of a claim.

How much is it to install in the first place?

Marc

I bought the complete kit from MSAR http://www.msar-safety.com/detail.asp?p=72&o=Electrical_FX_G-TEC_+_ADS_Gas_Extinguisher

The Edwards Boyz actually fitted it whilst carrying out a load of other upgrades.

Would that be for the trailer? [/quote]

Lol, no, the only time iv’e had a fire was at Bruntingthorpe on one of Martin Edwards charity days, i triggered the gas fire system but it did nothing apart fron gas my passenger who id forgotten to unstrap out of the car :astonished:
Those systems are only really to give you a few extra seconds to get out of the car, they wont put the fire out and save the car.

They are very good things and when serviced you actually get a pretty much new bottle, they replace everything that matters.

Very small and neat too.

Another Nigel install?
