FAULTY PAINTWORK - HELP !

Dear Everyone,

I am in need of some help on the following issue, when I say ‘some help’ I mean quite a lot of help !!

I bought an Exige S2 over a year ago [had an Elise S2 before that] and noticed some blistering on the paintwork, I took this to Lotus dealer at the request of my finance company [Black Horse] so they could have a look at it.

The service manager had a look over the car and took digital photographs and sent them down to lotus headquarters for a response as he had not seen anything like that at that point.

Lotus responded to my finance company and offered a respray of the door,
I wrote back and told them to “f*ck off” and that i am not happy about spending �37k on a car that needs a paintjob after 6 months, this went on for a few more letters and then I cancelled my direct debit and let the finance company come and collect the car. [not the greatest idea looking back now]

Almost a year later and no more communication from them i got a later saying they had sold the vehicle and I owed them the rest of the balance less what they sold it for, i.e I owe the finance company �13.5k !!

Has anyone had a similar story ?
Has anyone been offered anything from Lotus other than what i was offered i.e respray ?
What is the difference from a respray compared with a factory finish paint job ?
Would I have been entitled to compensation [diminution in value] ?

And if you know a free lawyer that would be smashin� ???

etc etc.

This is going to court no doubt so as much info as possible please.
