[quote=WillB2]Have had the MIL illuminate on my recently aquired S2 Exige.
Symptoms are high/irratic idle speed.

Guessing here … but … very common problem is the rear offside wheel speed sensor needing cleaning/attention…
Get erratic idle when the ABS fuse is removed too .

Thanks, will take the wheels off and look at the sensor.
My workshop manual says for P0500 code:
Potential failure modes;
Open or short in vehicle speed sensor circuit
buildup of debris in the sensing plate on the wheel hub
Malfunction criteria;
TPS 1800rpm and 756 mBar
Thanks for that.
Actually had 2 codes now, P0500 (pending) and P0507.
The throttle body was pretty dirty. Have now cleaned it out and it’s much better, but still idling too high.
Is there a re-set for the idle speed??
Code P0507 - Idle Air Control System System RPM Higher than Expected
Potential failure modes
Throttle body sticking(open)
Connector/wiring corroded or loose connections
Throttle linkage/cable binding
Induction system air leak
Sorry, don’t know about idle reset but suspect it’s controlled by the ECU and IACV. If there are any faults as above it’ll never be right so cure those first.
Much appreciated
Looks like gunk in the throttle body.
Have cleaned it out and it’s better but looks like it needs to come off again for a deeper clean into the IACV as well…
Thanks all
