David,Just looking through www.bookatrack.com and saw your profile said you’ve got a GT2… Is this in addition to a Ferrari, a Skyline, and an Exige?I’ve got a 996 turbo on order, but that is some stable!-- Jon

Almost, the Skyline has gone for the GT2 and the F355 has gone to make way for the impending 360 Spider. The GT2 is rather nice though [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] (scary, scary fast too !)

David,Whats the chassis number of the GT2 ?Is it one of the UK 7 or an import ? One of the 7 went to New Zealand and had a “911 GT” reg plate, it came back a couple of years ago and met up with another GT2 which also with a UK “911 GT” plate, very funny to see them both [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]I may be able to give you some history on it…

Not sure about chassis numbers, but it’s a 996 GT2 (ie. built this year) not a 993 GT2

Oh wow !!! bstrd [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/tongue.gif[/image]

tracked it yet David…is it as much fun as the skyline was?

and how do those ceramic brakes feel/perform?

It’s a different beastie from the Skyline, being RWD only, and having significantly more torque (no TCS, PSM either). It commands respect, and I’m just nibbling away at it’s performance envelope. In a straight line, it’s stupendously fast (much faster than the Skyline)… we shall see how well it fares through the twistier bits soon !If you thought Skyline V-spec suspension was hard, you ain’t seen nothing yet !I’ve not had the brakes up to track temperatures yet (!) but initial thoughts are that they’re pretty darn good, although they don’t have lots of initial bite from cold (although not as bad as using EBC Reds)They look nice though [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]

Wow!How does it compare against a standard turbo? Also, where are you sourcing the spider from - I looked and it was ~ 3 1/2 years waiting list… ;-(-- Jon

I’ve not driven a Turbo, so can’t comment from personal experience. The reason I went for a GT2 over a Turbo was that it has ~50lb/ft more torque and ~50bhp/tonne more than the Turbo. They also come with carbon brakes as standard (useful for all the track abuse I’m going to give it). They sit alot lower, and have harder/more configurable suspension. Being RWD means they’re more of a handful, but in a way if you can tame a tail heavy 450lb/ft RWD beastie with no TCS/PSM/ABS etc, then you can tame pretty much anything !Sourced the Spider by buying someones place in the queue[This message has been edited by Admin5 (edited 02 September 2002).]
