Quite a good magazine even if he says my s1 is slow and he prefers the s2. Truth is you have to paddle an S1 very hard to keep up but it can. In my experience (having had an s2) it’s way down if torque but catches up with a faster gear change.
Of course, the s3 is just more grown up and much faster accelerating.
I think preference is totally subjective, so not sure what is achieved. The S1, S2 and in particular the S3 are totally different cars and had different remits.
Always great to see Exige in print though. And your S1 looks great. They aren’t mad fast in modern terms but to your comment you do need to know how to drive them to get best from them.
The old girl is looking well Keith having driven both S2 and S3 variants which are absolutely fantastic cars and far more capable than the S1, for me they still don’t get close to the rawness and excitement of driving S1 Exige VHPD
Plus the S1 looks far better to my eyes, as you can guess I’m pretty biased towards S1 Exiges
The S1 is noisy and smelly and rattles, that’s its charm, if you expect it to pull from 3000rpm you have missed the point but it does make it much harder work. I forgot to tell him I have race pads which are wooden until you get heat in them. I had an S2 but it was easy to decide which one to keep when I “needed” a Caterham. The supercharger squeal was always intoxicating, the gearbox slower than a slow thing though.
