Failed Central Door Locking Module ??

Are the symptoms of a CDL module that has failed, that the door pins make a noise and try to move but dont ?
And the indicators flash as normal, and i assume the alarm arms as normal?

yep, welcome to the joys of lotus :frowning:

can be an easy fix to replace modual (about 80 from lotus iirc)
mine failed soon after purchase 2 yrs ago) if you can access, as its sighted behind instrument binnacle, so can sometimes be reached from side wwith driers door open and panel removed. but its fiddley. might be that you leave ond one in and sight newone alongside if you can reach connectors but not remove old moduale . can you still access by turning key in lock?

I’ve just learned to live without mine …

Yep

Mine failed in the locked position, so it was very awkward, if you wanted to leave the car you could not use the alarm as it would lock the car, but you couldn’t unlock it at all :frowning: it is a simple (if painfull) fix.

Found this which I assume is the method used:

That is the one, I just double sided the new one on top of the old one

I’m always afraid that mine is going to fail whilst locked - how do you break in if it does?

Put on a hoodie

I won’t post how to on a forum  but it’s not hard…

Successfully changed the CDL module, and it works
Now when one is adept enough to drop ones screwdriver down inside here:

Where the hell does it go to ?
It went with a good clatter, and I have tried fumbling with a magnetic probe to no avail.
Is it in there for ever ??

oh dear that might be in the sill?

So every time I accelerate hard is it going to roll to the back and to the front under braking ??

possibly, not sure but that would be the only place I can think it could have gone…

Steve

Have you looked on your garage floor?

ummm … Yes

Anyway found it
Unfortunately it involved taking off the sill cover and feeding my arm down into the sill area (gynaecology comes to mind), and behind a huge piece of foam I found the screwdriver.

Now comes refitting everything … fingers crossed it all will work…

good work. I do stuff like that all the time.

All done & refitted, seems to be working.
Need to take it for a run to check
Also fitted an interior light delay

Great… In that case I’ll have a good mooch about and see if I can expand my tool kit

Reminds me of when I had a noise coming from the front of the car after having some work done at a garage. Turned out a tech had left his spanner inside the front splitter.
