Spend the day watching the F1 practice live from Melbourne… spent the day trying to fix the volume control of my new TV…
… then I realised that nothing is wrong with the TV…
The ‘new F1’ cars make no noise!!! Some local bloke said they sounded like a Cessna 150 at idle thrust making a landing… I did not think that was fair, it was more like a Cessna 172!
WTF have the rule makers done to F1!!! Sure we need the sport to be at ‘cutting edge’ but FFS, if this is the result at least install a 1000W amp in the boot to play the old soundtrack of a V8 at 18,000 RPM!
The body language of the crowd said it all I thought…
7 seconds slower per lap that Schumies record…
Merc look great… Lotus still practicing rally cross at the hands of Monsiour Grobag!
Well, it is certainly going to be a different season!
personally I think the new engines are great, while they’re not as noisy there are more and different noises to listen out for: turbo noise, drivetrain shunt and tyre screech can now be heard too.
Throw in gobs of torque that spear the cars sideways without warning, and effectively a push to pass option and it’s livened up the whole shebang.
I’m not sure they’re great noise-wise but I do like the other benefits. I would say they somehow sound futuristic.
Seriously? I think you need to give it another try as less grip and more torque just made the driver far more of the focus. True, I much prefer BTCC and MotoGP for the racing but F1 is the best drivers in the most advanced cars (and it sounds better than those).
