F1 coverage

Watched Sky show live this morning. It was ok. But for the first time I watched the BBC coverage later. It was miles better in my opinion. The build up with Eddie Jordan , David Coulthard and Jake Humphreys was far more incisive and enjoyable. But really missing Martin Brundle who I think jumped ship far too quickly. I feel that the Sky folk are, as in so many sports that they cover, just trying to fill air time. So far as I can see Sky have brought nothing new to the TV coverage of the sport. Having said that, Ted Kravitz’ computer-aided explanation of Mercedes’ DRS system was excellent…
Anyone else with me on this?

Absolutey …
Miss Brundles input. Very intelligent guy …

But Eddie Jordan is a right twit! It’s all about him and he can never get a blooming question out.

Having said that Georgie is really annoying and all women should be affronted by her acceptance of playing the dizzy role to Anthony Davidson’s excellent analysis.

Reason I’ve been following Sky is that I don’t like the thought of watching something that is less than last year. I did see the highlights on the BBC later and I thought Coulthard was going to explode in the last 10 laps, his voice couldn’t go any higher!

The wife likes Jake and I miss Lee McKenzie (great journalist). The commentary itself is okay but a bit flat and less than last year outside the racing.

Ian

Georgie Georgie Georgie

I like the Sky coverage so far but no great shakes. I haven’t had much time to really watch it yet what with the races on at the times they are for the first part of the season so I’ll reserve outright judgement. I did enjoy the highlights show on the BBC, I thought Coulthard was very good…I did not enjoy ManU vs Villa game later on…

Lol enjoy the Championship" you tosser

Did miss him also but more for his less than standard approach to commentary as well as his excellent insights and early predictions of trouble as he read the cars so well.

Coulthard is getting better at the interviews and give him a bit of time he may get to where we left off with Brundle.

Best part of it was it was all over relatively early which meant I could get on with other things and not “waste” the best part of the day. I see the next one is late afternoon/early evening so same applies

I’m not entirely sure they need Georgie as i don’t see what she offers. I enjoy Anthony Davidson’s work and he is getting pretty nifty at the ‘sky pad’

During the grid walk, Brundle was itching to speak to Rosberg who was talking to his engineer, Brundle thought better of it and did not go barging in like he used to! I think he must have been told off a few times previously!

Roll on Bahrain

Georgie brings a nice figure  …& the rest of the coverage is excellant , I did see MB walk past EJ with a nod, and a Hi To DC , but in each instance he was talking to us,the audience. Overall very well produced and professional

I’m probably not in the best position to comment as I’ve only watched BBC coverage, but so far this season it has been very good indeed.

I can understand that some might find Eddie Jordan not to their liking but he’s speaking from a position of knowledge, having ‘been there, done that’ so must surely be respected for it!

Apologies but technical issues mean we cant repeat the China GP on the Red Button today - but normal service will be resumed for Bahrain

i must admit i did enjoy jake and his sidekicks, they are excellent.

they do miss brundle i thought, you realise how good he was at it…

other than that, i kind of think sky are better, apart from the ruddy adverts obviously…

And the adverts are NEVER transmitted during a race , just before and after

But any real insight is rare and you have to wait soooo long to get it, plus the current paddock treat him as a bit of a has-been.

But I’m probably not in the best position to comment as I just fast-fwd through him.

Just what does EJ do to support himself these days? Does he have any links with F1 other than the BBC? If not then I agree to the has-been comment and wonder when we will see him replaced with someone with a more recent insider view.

Although when he goes I’ll miss those little digs/side remarks from Coulthard
