Not what your thinking

This is video from my last visit to the Anglesey GP circuit. It is 15 minutes with an �incident� at the end were I nearly have a collision with another car.

I have been experimenting with some picture-in-picture editing. I didn�t have two cameras at this day so the video is synched in places, but being two different sessions there is some variance in this. For the next trackday I am going to remove the passenger seat to allow a second camera to be mounted pointing at me filming the steering, braking and gear changes. This will then synch correctly with the main forward facing camera.

Apart from the camera stuff it was a great trackday. One thing I struggled with was front tyre squeal. I wasn�t experiencing understeer, but the noise was there. I experimented with the tyre pressures but nothing worked. Interestingly it is only at Anglesey I experience this; nothing at any other circuit. It is a new surface, but very grippy. Anyone got any ideas/suggestions?

Brilliant footage again Damon- love the flames from the RX7!

Pug driver did appear to be getting back over for you- remember it’s no good putting your hand up to the rear view mirror -he won’t see much of your apology!!

Great to see a RX7 being driven properly too. Was the driver Chris Wilson per chance?

In the middle of reworking the video as I am not happy with the quality.

Not sure of the name of the driver, he is Baron von SomethingOrOther on the northloop.co.uk forum. Nice chap.

Great Video! That circuit is on the ‘must do’ list! How about an Exiges day there guys!

Cannot see why tyre squeal is a bad thing! Even the F1 guys get a bit going!

Tried to view a couple of times but got “Failed” message.
Anyone else having problems?

The video has been broken at Vimeo for a week so if anyone tried to view it you now can.

I’ve had to remove the near miss at the end of the video to work with Vimeo on the problem

As always, any constructive feedback would be most welcome. I can see several areas for improvement, most notably several corners were I could be on the throttle earlier.

Do you use Sony Vegas or Apple software for HD, Damon?

I use a Sony HandyCam which records in HD on to a SD card. I then import that into iMovie and/or Final Cut Express on the Apple Mac OS.

I bought a Sony HD SR10 camcorder and have just bought Sony Vegas so hopefully I can start uploading HD to Vimeo like yours, instead of just MPEG!
