Experienced the Evora...

All,

Just had a great morning. Had an appointment to test drive the new Evora at Bell & Colvill. Jamie Matthews is the new man in the Lotus sales side, after Scott left at the end of last month. I must say Jamie seems to be slotting into the role very well, he’s clearly already got the Lotus bug, after I experienced a few minutes with him at the wheel. :astonished:   I wish him all the best in his new role!! Thanks Bell & Colvill, oyu guys are always very professional to deal with!

Anyway, about the car. Got the wife and 2 year old in, and off we went! First impressions were how instantly I felt accustomed to the car - the Lotus DNA is very strong in the Evora. Biggest difference for me was the servoed brakes, I’m so used to standing on mine that I over-braked a few times. The throttle is crisp and VERY progressive. Engine-wise, the bigger displacement and torque of the V6 gives the car a real “turn and squirt” feeling out of the corners which is very satisfying. Road compliance is right up there…it is superb and soaks up the bumps very well, but remains alert and agile in your hands without having its own nose for ruts in the road. Brakes, absolutely no complaints there!

Here’s a quick pic of the car

Cheers -Nick

Suits you Sir, Suits you!!

Nice mini review Nick - big question is what would be quickest on track, Evora or your trusty S1 Exige?

Alex

Cheers Alex,

Certainly on the road the car felt very capable and hooked up. I’d stick with the Exige S1 though…The Evora is terrific, but it’s got a different purpose…far more the luxurious every day car that is capable of a good spanking every now and then, whereas our cars proudly celebrate their raw track biased roots. I think our S1s will continue to raise the hair on the back of our necks more often than an Evora could!!!

Drove the same car and loved it, as you say its a different car, im dreaming v8 Evora

its a shame Scott has gone

Nick I am getting a bit worried about you…Is Nicola having a big influence in your choice of car???.

'bout time you were out on track old chap!! Get rid if the family car thoughts
Cheers Clive

Are you the Mr Bean I saw at the ring recently in an M3 ?

Clive, no need to worry I assure you…

BTW, all, can’t let on too much at the moment  but my car was used in a professional video and photo shoot a few days ago. Before your imaginations run away with you, I’ll say it wasn’t for a car mag, but I’ll be getting a DVD of the footage hopefully in the next few weeks and get it into vimeo/youtube for y’all to see.

I’ll be interested to see what a cameraman with a full size video camera was able to achieve from the passenger seat!!! To say it was cramped is putting it mildly!

Keep you posted.

Not Guilty it was an imposter  : He must have been " aBroad Bean"

Did he look like this? If so, his name is Bean Bunny, and he’s South African!!
