Exige Vs Skyline: an amusing reading

Guys,I just saw this over in the GTR website while searching for something else. Exige faster than any Skyline round a track | GTR Forum Had fun reading it. [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]Cheers,Uldis

Good to see Mr Admin setting them straight at the end there! They all seem to miss the point that us Exige drivers do it without electronic assistance.Ian [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

I’m intregued by this comment… quote:Having driven both on track and on the road Id have to say ‘it would depend on the track conditions and the abilities of the driver etc’ there are 2 points that let the Exige down one a very important thing is the standard brakes are so bad that Id say they are even dangerous. Goodness knows how they get through the MOT/TUV. The other is the traction (try doing doughnuts in an Elise/Exige). I’ve always though, and read, that the Exige brakes were pretty damn good - AP Racing aren’t to be sniffed at.As for traction…I don’t understand what he’s trying to get at. Traction is different from grip, and I think he’s getting confused, or unless I’m mis-reading it?

It probably highlights the difference between Exige and Skyline owners (no offense Mr Admin, you had both for differing moods [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] ).Ian [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

What you all need to bear in mind is these Skyline Johnnies cant drive a car without the assistance of a computer adjusting the throttle, suspension, brakes, yaw, pitch, and PS2, have I missed anything out??? the comprehension of a car thats faster without any of these things is unbelievable to them.

Now now, lets stop making disparaging comments about Skyline owners. For what it’s worth, of all the cars I’ve owned, Ferraris, Porsche etc. the Skyline has been the biggest hoot, and if they still made them (ie. could get one with a warranty) I’d get one in a heartbeat. As Steve (and I think Pesky) will remember, we had some hilarious 100yards sideways slides at Elvington.[image]http://www.exiges.com/gallery/skyline/side460.jpg[/image]The Skyline lets you get away with more than an Exige will, and is kinda programmed to get the car into a slide and hold it, but I’ve seen far too many bent Skylines to believe they drive themselves…[This message has been edited by Admin5 (edited 19 March 2003).]

certainly agree the skyline was great fun from the pax seat…although having seen a few at rockingham I wonder if it is possible to turn off all that electronic stuff (as well as disengage brain)
