Exige V6 - best mode for Hillclimb?

Hi folks
I’m booked to do a demo runs at Shelsley Walsh at Supercarfest in July. I decided to book myself in to the Shelsley driving school in May so I know what I’m doing.
Does anyone on here have Hillclimb experience, and what mode would you use, ‘Race’ or start with sport and build up?
Thanks

With it being a demo run, are you required to have any particular safety gear for either you or the car? Sounds like it is non-competitive, so i’d say just use the car mode as you would on a public road.

Everything off. Max revs. Max tire smoke. May as well have fun :+1:t2:

I was asking more for Shelsley driving school.
The safety kit required is covered on the website when booking. You need to wear a helmet.
For Shelsley, similar (covered on their website), basically if you have kit, use it.

A bit like a track day then by the sound of it? In which case just set it up as you would for a spirited road drive and enjoy

Hogarth on here might be your best bet as a hill climb specialist. Try a PM

Select whichever mode which reduces the risk of ending up “in the Rhubarb” to an acceptable level!

If you’ve never explored the over-the-limit handling of your car with the electronics off/turned-down, I don’t sense Shelsley would a good place to experiment.

I’ve never driven Shelseley or a V6 so feel free to ignore me but Tim’s guidance seems about spot on.

I think I’ll go with Sport to start with. If I think I’ve got it sussed I might try Race. TBH, until recently I didn’t own a car with traction control, so managed with a GT3 quite happily.
Race is supposed to be amazing on the Exige though, but requires loss of traction for the computer to learn how much grip the road surface has.
Will report back.

Come on, I vmax’d the 340R on the way home /first day, drove it in pouring rain through Belgium. No TC, semi slicks. Smoke it all the way up the hill!

/edit: this may not be the best advice :stuck_out_tongue:
And I did limp home after melting the oil line against the exhaust and a few hundred Begians are still laughing at the fool getting socked snd spray blinded lololol
I would follow the schools advice. Which I am guessing will be identical to Bens. And Ben is a demi driving god B-)
