Exige Trickle Charger

Just thought I would let you guys know the Offical Lotus Trickle Charger is in fact an Airflow item, and can not be fitted to the Exige. The only option you have is to use the Non Lotus item [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]My Exige does not have the charging socket behind the seats as indicated in the manual, but then again the manual doesn’t cover the aircon either ( please please please dont start the aircon thing again, just trying to make a point, and I am so sorry for mentioning that word, I think I mentioned it once, but got away with it [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image] )Do any of you guys have the socket?I phoned the dealer that supplied the offical charger, and was told it would not fit an Exige, great, however lotus do another kit which will have the socket fitted in one of the spare switches on the dash [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image] So I will obviously be changing the offical charger for the identical non offical charger and connecting it directly to the battery like every one else.So how about a new Lotus mottoGreat cars, big problems with breweries… [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/rolleyes.gif[/image]

I’ve been using a Halford’s Item (Battery Master. 20).Direct connection to battery terminals though. Wires are thin enough to enable bonnet closure and is great for the guys with the air-con. Says it on the packet. Honest !

I was also looking for this Socket, isn’t there either, but i found a Socket under the Dashboard above Footroom on Passenger Side, maybe on Driverside with UK Cars? does anyone know whats this good for? Maybe also connected to the electric circuit?regards

No sockets under my dash (either side) [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image]

I brought the lotus charger, just have to put it straight onto the battery, the leads split so you can cables tucked in front compartment and just attach to charge. Should have just brought a Halfords one. I have aircon and my manual came with an aircon supplement seperate.

I suppose I should talk to the dealer about a air con supplement but I think I have sussed it, AC button on cool and slow, AC off fast and hot. [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] Still no charging socket though, dealer to sort next week.I will take it back about the brewery. Went to see the new factory this weekend and I think a brewery trip organised by lotus would indeed end in non-stability in the legs department. GuysBasically, there is no socket on the Exige. The Exige handbook is made up of a “cut and paste” exercise between the Elise, 340R and Sport 160 manuals. The socket is on the 340R and not the Exige. If you also want a laugh, compare the Service Schedules in the handbook compared to the service book - one is for the Exige, the other is the Elise!!!I think the above has been tounge in cheek, but just to be sure - I run an Airflow perfectly OK on an Exige - directly connected the leads that come with the Airflow to the battery.P.S. Buy an Airflow directly from the manufacturer, half price

[QUOTE]Originally posted by Mark Barrett:Guys"Basically, there is no socket on the Exige."There is on mine [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image] - granted it’s not behind the seats, it’s in a strangely more practical place!

Halfords sell a decent trickle charger - use it on my own car. Simply bung the crocodile clips on the battery terminals, & plug the unit in. (The wires fit between the lid & the clam, when the lid is closed, if that’s an issue for you).I paid 19.99 12 months ago, but I think they are now selling for 15.99.

Steve Go on - you can’t leave an idiot in suspense like that - where is it?!?!?!?P.S my information that no Exiges had sockets came straight from Lotus - goes to show what they know :0)

Eliseparts do one for 25.00 bucks. Apparently it plugs straight into the lighter sucket, which I think is quite convenient, and it’s solar powered too.Does anybody use this one? If so, is it any good?Kev.

KpI think most owners keep their cars in a garage, so the solar powered jobbie is not the most popular practical choice.

Yeah, I thought so Pesky - I had my doubts about it, hence the question “is it any good?” FWIW I thought I throw my 2 cents worth into the discussion [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

You can’t use the lighter socket!I tried this but when you switch off the ignition the connection to the socket is broken therefore it won’t charge! If you do manage to get it rigged up it certainly gives out a charge but I don’t know if the drain from the alarm is greater than the trickle.Ian [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]
