I had a nose into the engine bay of the Exige the other day to discover the evidence that mice have been in there, with droppings dotted over the sheet that covered the engine (no, I’m not ashamed of the K, it just sits minus its TB’s while repairs are made). I took away the sheet and cleared out any droppings I found, then went around the garage looking at the soft materials and found plenty of damage to bits and bobs (overalls, tool kit foam, rubber matting).
I have set traps, and been successful (yay!!), but noted more droppings in the boot of the Exige, but they may be from the recently deceased mice.
What I’d like to know is how do I “mouse proof” the car while it sits in the garage? It sits outside at the moment in the (vain?) hope that the cold will make any unauthorised passengers leave their hiding place. I’m thinking of leaving it on axle stands, at the forward and mid jacking points and taking the wheels off to prevent any climbing up into the car.
Any better or additional suggestions will be gratefully received to prevent my car becoming lunch (only the vacant air inlet trunking has been noted as damaged so far).
I’ve kept aircraft in hangers for years…Nothing stops the little critters climbing …
Relax tho … there is a very simple solution that works bloody well …Buy a couple of ultrasonic rodent repellers, they look like smoke alarms and run for months on a pp3 battery.
best of all they only cost about a fiver.
SORTED!
Had the same problem
Ultrasonic devise already installed and did sweet FA.
So now use wax poison blocks that I nail to lumps of wood.
They take it back to the nest.
Thing is, there is no such thing as ONE mouse!
Bait em and kill em.
But you do have to keep it up OR they will be back.
