Exige S2 with added supercharger

Hi Jon,

SCS Delta 800

Found out one of the reasons for low power …
someone snapped the bolts holding inlet to the charger. It would have been wolfing in air …

Ah well, getting fixed now

So I dropped my car off at RST early this morning.

Chris has got cracking on it and think he might have found the reason for the knackered aircon

another name for kangaroo

Chargecooler pre rad + fans fitted

74mm pulley not quite and exact fit !

So, right now the car is running. Not mapped , but running. Reason being injectors.

The lotus engineers for some reason use narrow injectors.

Narrow injectors don’t exist in today’s market. It’s proving hard to find anything that fits.

There is one company , but it’s OEM design and years behind modern tech.

Investigating some avenues.

However, car looks like this at moment.

Here are the end results :

Well done Andy

Now out with the magic sponge and lots of Fairy

It shall be cleaned to within an inch of its life.

Then cleaned again!

Mind that gearbox

176ft/ib on a 260 apparently.

I am around 190ish.

Case of when, not if ?

200lb/ft of torque is almost certain doom for the gearbox, my expired at Spa coming out of La Source (it’s on youtube)

Best to get the Jubu gearset fitted sooner rather than later, when it goes it does make a mess inside :astonished:

Argh , torn now.

I am not at 200ibft , and a mere 14ibft over the 176 mooted on the exige S 260…

I assume yours was 200 Ade?

Yep just over with 300hp and a touch over 200lb/ft

The gearbox might last ages or it might not, heat also has a lot to do with it as well, my car was the first car to get a cooler made. JDS did it and it was well proven on track cars to help keep the gearbox in one piece

There are well known failures of cars with less than 200lb/ft of torque but usually these were track cars that rode the curbs a lot, these were more likely to break due to shock loading in 3rd along with heat build up

I am really undecided about what route to take.

Do I keep it cool or bang in the uprated 3rd / 4th gears?

Order the gears…you’re gonna need em

The oil cooler is a good move if you’re gonna track it a lot as,after 5 laps or so the oil temps do climb somewhat with 300 bhp…
An oil cooler alone won’t stop the standard gears going bang though…
Even a cool gearbox will fail with anything over 270 ish

you want to consider most of this stuff

and one of these while it is all apart

https://www.seriouslylotus.com/drivetrain/toyota-drivetrain/gear-box-oil-cooler-kit

you might get lucky and it last ages, or like other less than 10 miles

I managed less than two miles
First blip of throttle in 3rd after the smaller pulley was all it took !

I have the diff and updated clutch. Just not the box gear bits.

I’d also recommend the uprated gearbox 3rd, 4th and final drive. When I initially had my gearbox built I didn’t get on with the final drive and went back to standard. Big mistake, first trackday, first session out after the sighting laps, pulled 3 teeth of the final drive and that was that. Now back to full Jubu kit, plus gearbox laminova.

Or if you are feeling adventurous I have a Quaife sequential that I’m considering parting with.
