Exige S2 'S' stats don't add up

I’m considering buying an Exige ‘S’ but a little confused by some stats:

Looking at the stats for the 218bhp original Exige S, the 0-60 is 4.1 seconds with a 0-100mph of 9.98 seconds

Can anyone tell me why the new 220bhp is listed as 0-60mph in 4.5 and 0-100mph in 11.5 seconds.

Weight for each is practically identical.

Were lotus just lying with the original version?

In a nutshell you are correct, I am not sure if they ever achived the 9.98 (I thought they had too) but 11.5 seems to be realistic. The 9.98 may of been possible if they were running it on pure nitrous with Verne Troyer driving.

Is 11.5 to a 100mph a little optimistic as well ? Has anyone actually timed their cars ?

Didn’t Autocar do a 0-100-0 test with it a while back? Seem to remember it got around 11.5 secs to 60.
