I’m planning on trying heat shield, wrap, air hose (been there before, still failed) and a spare (‘carry a spare, you’ll never need it’ theory).
I’ll then look at the dead one and see if it can be easily saved/modified.

And perhaps a smaller pulley on the crank (rather than a bigger one on the alt, as you’d have to remember to swap it when you next changed the alternator).
It’s looking like wrapping the manifold whilst on the car won’t get the wrap tight enough. So perhaps I’ll have to save that for during another job (sump baffling for instance).
