Sadly (fortunately) my job needed much more attention than past summers and my lovely Exi s1 has been stuck in my box for 5 months ! Never happened before…other than some cat fur inside ( lucky cat to avoid my eyes), I’m now wondering about the procedure to restart the engine.
I think after 5 months the engine is completely dry and it would be nice to let the oil start, before the first complete ignition.
Can you help me?
I was thinking about 2 different ways:
disconnect the inertia switch
disconnect the fuel pump fuse
But…where are them?
I remember the first one on my old Elise s1, on the left side of the engine bay. But I didn’t find it there on my Exi.
Fuel pump fuse. Is it inside the fuse box on the front bonnet?
I encourage you to get yourself a copy of the Elise workshop manual. It is quite easy to read and well illustrated (see drawing above).
And the best thing: you can download it from various places in the net for free, like here:
Before you turn the engine, remove the spark plugs and spray a small amount of warm engine oil into each cylinder. Leave it for 5 minutes to allow it to run down the bores so when the pistons come up they’re not running dry.
