Apologies of this is going over old ground, I did have a search but couldn’t find anything finite, but what oil do owners of Exige S1s recommend for the VHPD unit, Lotus approved or otherwise and where best to get hold of it please?

I guess everyone has their own ‘go to’ favourite… I have used Morris 10W-60 for the past few oil changes and their 10W-50 prior to that. Both are fully synthetic.
I buy mine from Holdcroft in Stoke at £35 for 5 litres.

I tend to buy Fuchs Titan Race Pro 10W60 or 10W50 when I see a good offer, I got my last lot from Opie Oils To be honest I’d happily use any decent quality fully synthetic 10W50 or 10w60.
I use the same as it was recommended but, as suggested above, any good quality oil of the correct grade would be fine.

I run 10W40 oil, is that not ideal for a tuned K series? Run on track quite a lot too. Is a 50 or 60 better being thicker?
Based on no evidence or research, just a hunch. Thicker oils may be less likely to weep out of old engines (the k is both an old design and age), particularly when hot. I know my old Austin Mini leaked less with thicker Duckhams oil than Castro’s.
Original spec from Lotus was 10W-60 Castrol
FormulaRS or Mobil 1 Motorsport 15W-50. A, quick trawl of t’internet comes up with similar grades for the VHPD engine.
I started using Morris oils when Castrol renamed their products and appeared to have umpteen variants.
Initially Morris’ full synthetic was 10W-50, but as above they started making 10W-60 so I moved to that as it was the same grade as the original Castrol stuff in the handbook.
