Today after having recharged my battery during the night, today I wanted to start the car but it failed.
I tried a spare battery, and check the 12,2V on my batter,I checkes the two 50Amps fuses into the front bonnet area, I reckon it should come from somewhere else…
I can say;
I do the starting steps as usual : inserting the key, turning it till all lights appear onto the dash, earing the gas pump working, unarming the alarm, but …
nothing happened, I don’t see any rpm or rev during the start, as I can’t hear any cranking,
Can someone tell me :
guidance in general
what the immobilizer does cut out
how i can try to start and overrule the immobilizer?
After many research, I suspect the immobilizer as the main fault. I will bypass it the soonest and let you know. Do not hesitate to share return onto that failure if you have faded it.
You’re obviously unlikely to get guidance on a public forum on how to bypass security. Continue your research, maybe speak to an alarm specialist like Abacus who are very helpful BTW. Check the workshop manual which lists the various modules.
Crank sensor seemed to be my problem at times. My car would turn over but not start.
Push back and forwards in gear( as if starter motor jammed )
That would somehow shift things and car would often start.
Also, try jump starting which seemed to shake crank sensor into life.
I committed on sharing feedback - and the problem is the immobilizer. I bypassed it and … It worked. I brought the car at my place, secured into my place and for now I have several options:
1/ let the car like it, as many Elise or Exige are. hummm not fan at all
2/ Locate the problem:
a/ check the immobilizer - if this one is okay - I would like to re-use it. The question is : how to check it ? how to reprog or initialized the fob key onto the Meta alarm system system. I did not found yet the solution, appreciate that someone share if with me if it exists
b/ buy new stuffs : immobilizer and two remote controller.
I am more favorable to 2/a/. It take every tricks about checking immobilizer and then reprog, re-init, procedure if someone can share.
I appreciate the PM from members shared. Thank you all

As the man said, talk to Abacus and get a new one. With a new one they will give you the keys that can be used to resync the immobiliser in the future, so the fault should not happen again. Lotus just chucked the keys in the bin, if you had them you could resync your current immobiliser. I installed the key socket in the rear plastic panel, near the harness bar.
Getting to the modules swapped is not hard, 2-3.hour job. I would not have an S1 without all of the security working.
I had this happen to me some years ago. At the time the only advice was to fit a complete new alarm/immobiliser system which seemed a bit excessive to me as the alarm isn’t affected.
As I found out after a bit if work, replacing just the immobiliser is straightforward and a new Meta M36T2 can be bought for around £55.
Thank to all for the comments. Actually, some member are helping me trough PM sharing new Meta M36T2 swapping. I really appreciate. If someone has the trick - I am still open but also ready for instating new device.
