Exige S1 air filter

Dismantling the air box / duct, I realized I have only one conical filter before the air box. No wonder engine makes nice noise. Anyway, I feel that a domed filter on the air horns would be a safe attitude. I’ve read that it should be a Pipercross unit. Would you be kind enough to confirm as I haven’t found it on Pipercross site, or suggest an interresting replacement keeping the original air box (engine is a 190 Rover on Emerald). Thank you very much.

ITG Megaflow JC74

I think is what your looking for …

The one suggested above does NOT fit with the standard air box, you will need the carbon fibre air box. I know this as I recently found out the hard way

I always though the carbon box was exact same as the standard one size wise …

I had the ITG fitted to my S1 which had the std airbox but I remember my spanner guy had some drilling to do to get the backplane fitted. DaveP has my S1 now and since he has gone Handa may have the ITG available for sale.

Actually - do a search and you find all the information you want on this …

I did lots of searching prior to getting the filter, but I didn’t find anything about it not fitting the standard box?

Having spoken with Castle Lotus they confirmed that it will not fit the standard box and you need the carbon fibre one. I did try and fit it in the standard box (as I didn’t want to spend loads on the carbon fibre on if it was just a pretty upgrade), but I just can’t see how you would get it in once fitted to the car. Yes it will go in the box with lots of pushing and pulling but no way can you do that once it’s attached to the car. I guess with some modifications to the back plate (as 6970K said) it may be possible.

Edit: I did also recently ask if anyone could say if there was a differance between the carbon and standard box, but no one answered.

Here

Is the thread you need I think …

I changed from a standard box to a carbon one and its exactly the same just in carbon …

Yes it does, I had one on mine.

In my case it was fitted by PTP who were rebuilding the head at the time with new valves.

OK, looks like I was wrong. All I can say in my defence is I was passing on information from Lotus, who you would have thought would have known

I still don’t know how you manage to get it to fit in the box though. Try as I might I just can’t get it in as it’s physically bigger than the main hole and won’t go in even at an angle, maybe my air-box is different? Still it’s looking like the carbon air box I purchased from ConMcL has been lost by the post office as it still hasn’t arrived after nearly two weeks

Big price differences?

Following the Link to PTP for the ITG Megaflow, it can be bought for 200 GBP.

Following this link to hanger111, the same airfilter is available for 138 GBP:

unless i am missing the fact that this is not the same filter, potential buyers can buy the IDG there and save 60 pounds, which can be useful at another time.

I always said he was cheap

slip of the keyboard here, sorry IDG.

obviously I meant… now what was it…

cheers benja. this is like being back at school…
