Mornin all!
Thought I’d introduce myself, I’m Matt and I’m seriously thinking about getting a Exige S after seeing the Clarksons xmas DVD. Ive never owned a Lotus in fact I drive a err Jeep (I have got a bike thou) so this will be just a weekend car for banging round the country roads where I live. So Ive got a few questions, as I havent got a clue. Ive looked at a few and got it down to a couple (all second hand) , all different colors and specs. Sooooo what can I live without Sports pack or touring pack? Im not planning on doing track days. Whats the best colour? Ive looked at Black and Yellow and I cant decide which I like more, its a bit like asking me which is my favorite leg the left or the right?
So anything else I need to consider? Any advice, any one recommend a dealer or ones to avoid like my ex mother in law? I live in Essex (the nice bit) have car and toothbrush and will travel to find love.
Thanks people I look forward to getting to know you all.
If you’re not tracking then no point really getting the Performance pack.
Yellow is not always the easiest colour to sell on but you buy whatever colour you like. I have the Chrome Orange which I really like. 2nd Lotus in this colour. Krypton green is also very nice but then I like really loud colours on sports cars.
Are you on about the one that he raced against Mustang against in the States, cause I think that was 240 Cup, not that it really matters; I guess the best advice would be to go with your gut as far as colour goes, lets face it, they all look fab. And as for the options, I guess its a case of asking yourself how you will use your car, I mean you dont need either pack, but if you are using your car everyday or planning long trips than the touring pack may well be worth considering.
Hi, I picked up my Exige S about a month ago and have not previously had a lotus or rwd car. Mine is starlight Black and I have gone for the performance pack as I prefer the seats. As previously said the cars look amazing in any colour and it does attract alot of attention. I waited for over a year to get myself in the best position to buy one and for the winter deals to come along. If the time is right for you then I will just say go for it.
Have a look at the touring/performance packs and see what you want, I don’t think either are must/must nots. Colour is up to you but unusual colours (not to be confused with loud or bright) may be hard to sell. The one to really watch is air con, you can argue whether you can live without it or not but it’s perceived as the biggest drawback when selling on. Obviously if you get a real bargain for one with no aircon somebody else has taken the hit pricewise but it may still take time to shift when you move on.
I know trackdays aren’t for everyone & maybe you have experience of them already; but if you don’t then you should really see for yourself what an Exige is capable of doing before writing this idea off. If you don’t want to take your own car, you can usually arrange a passenger ride of this forum.
It just is not possible to fully exploit an Exige on the open road, but it is still great fun.
Thank’s for your words, I’ve got a few more things to think about there, certainly prefer the seats in the cars with Sport packs! As for track days I’ll have to keep an eye open when the next one is, I’d love to have a ride round and see how it should be done properly!
