EXIGE 'S' SHIFT LIGHTS

Has anyone fitted shift lights to their Exige ‘S’?

If so I’d be grateful for details.

Cheers.

I fitted the Datatools RevLight to my NA Exige. Mounted in roof lining just in peripheral vision. I’d guess same fitting as the S. What do you need to know?

I tried to have a set of DRE Shift Lights fitted but the ‘S’ has a different wiring loom to the Elise and N/A Exige. Basically the wire you need to attach the shift lights to on the back of the RPM guage doesn’t exist! The only(?) alternative is to run a wire to the engine and take the feed from there, probably easy enough but the best quote I’ve had is over 200 for the wiring bit plus time to fit the lights.

If there is an easier solution let me know…

No, that is the solution. It’s the same on the NA S2 Exige though and newer Elises. I had to run a wire through. Not that big a job really, took me a morning to fit. just have to be confident in drilling holes from engine bay to passenger compartment.

In this case, the “blue wire”…

Common way to route wires from engine bay to passenger side is through the hole for/with the gear selector cables. You just need to unscrew the centre console to feed them through. I’ve got data logging, shift lights, oil temp and pressure all coming through there.

I have inherited snapper’s car with shift lights (Aces) that sit on top of the instrument binnacle. They cost him quite a bit to fit, apparantly, due to some of the wiring issues previously mentioned. Worth a PM to him to get details. I’m quite impressed with them to be fair; thought they would be a bit of gimmick but they are actually really useful when you’re giving it some welly on 2nd cam and don’t want to be constantly glancing down at the rev counter. You get a series of lights with the Aces that count you down to your change up point, then they all flash at you when you’re about to hit the rev limiter. I think there may be a photo of them on his website/link

I fitted the “Aces” Shift lights that are used on the Caterham R400 & R500 cars.

A word of warning. There is not enought power in the Stack Dash system to power any shift lights and you will have to wire them back through the car to the engine bay.

Nick Whale Sports cars fitted them for me and did a very nice job of it.

There are a couple of pictures on the web page I created when I had the car for sale.

I forgot to mention that the Aces system is fully adjustable to suit your driving style.
