Exige S SC

I am a bit confused, does the Exige S use the M62 or the MP62 supercharger? Also I know there was a big thread on this but the original question never seems to have been answered, and that was, what size is the SC pulley on all the models? Also I am trying to find out what boost pressures all the different models use, I really want to upgrade my car and I plan on using a charge cooler to lower the charge temp, but the boost pressure and charge temps on my car are very low, also does anyone know how the boost pressure is regulated?

Thanks

I asked the same question 6 months ago. The thread is now umpteen pages long and we didn’t find an answer!!!

But it is an M62 blower and on a 240R at least it works at 0.5Bar or 7psi.

Err, the above was taken form the 240R section of the manual but if you look at the Exige S/C section it says that they all use the MP62. It then goes on to say that the boost pressure is “up to 7psi” and then gives two different power outputs for the 240R/Cup and the S…

The only thing which controls the boost is the bypass valve but it says this only opens at part load and idle to improve fuel consumption??? So thats clear as mud basically!

I must admit looking at the install it does look more like an MP62, I have had a boost guage on mine and it appears to read 5psi constant, this makes me think there is something controling the pressure
The reason why I want to find out is so I can if possible run a smaller pulley, but I don’t want to over rev the charger though, maybe it is time to take mine apart to find out for sure…
Someone must know?

Thanks

I’m runnin mp62, 13.3psi. 2.85" pulley wheel with my setup, no need to worry about overreving the blower…but you wil need a better intercooler [air/water] and a correct tune.

What sort of BHP are you getting from that set up , is it a kit or somthing you have worked on yourself ?

It’s my own design you can see it on www.moremonkey.com So far the last dyno was 290 rwhp, sence then I’ve done a little more street tuning and I’m sure I’ve made more…a kit may be in the works…

Wow 290 ! that must feel bonkers quick.
Had a look on moremonkey.com but no luck , whats the thread called ?
hows the car drive , is it all or nothing now or can you still mooch around in it also have you had any problems with it ?

Try here http://www.monkeytuner.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=759&start=0 It drives as thoe it should have made it this way…smooth power all the way to red line in each gear…I built the bottom end after a seeing a little wear on number one cylinder…

Looking at the spec differences between the M62 and the MP62 the rev limit on them is 14k and 16k so I really must work out which one it is, I will try to find some time this week to take it apart.

Oh well so far nobody appears to know

FWIW, I was told by LMS that the boost pressure was .4 bar or 5.88 psi

Ah well I just found an interesting document on the Lotus site, it says that the super charger is an M62 which is not the news I wanted to hear, but nevermind I just have to work to 14k rpm rather than 16k rpm…

I wouldn’t trust a PR dept doc as far as I could throw it. The workshop manual says both options? But I’ll ask a man who will know!

Exige S. 240,255,GT3 all run an MP62 puts out 6psi untill cam change which drops down to 5psi.on the S…
