Here’s one I made earlier

They still can’t get the engine cover to fit properly

It does look very Blue Peter. Pass round the sticky back plastic and the fairy liquid bottles.

That does look a bit pants.

looks alright to me… now on to the next project… bigger wing

Looks OK to me - perhaps white is not the most flattering colour.

Yikes! That’s awful Didn’t the press release say they’d slightly redesigned the roof? If that’s the finished article, they should have said they’d stuck on a poorly designed extra bit.

Looking at the state of the finish on the paint I’d say it’s a styling mock up & nothing like the finished product, or the press release pics

Tim.

Thats the press car being used by a dealer for demos the weekend just gone. Theres a thread on pistonheads.

Yep, I’ve seen some other pics, & that roof add on (bodge on?) looks truly awfull. Bad on any car, unforgivable for a 35K one

Tim.

Looks like it’s the finished product Pics taken at Anglesey

Nice pics . $hite roof scoop

I think this car is going to grow on me, although i don’t know whether i would just push out for the extra and get a 240 cup! Can any one confirm if the 240cup is limited edition?? i know the exige S is not.

Is the Cup not just a Lotus Motorsport SVAed type jobbie?

Ian

Yep, its made to order from lotus sport, as a conversion on a standard S2 (after being registered first?). Don’t know about the SVA part as it’s regarded as an aftermarket conversion, hence the high cost.

Tim.

So we saying that the Cup240 isn’t limited edition? and would be availible, all be it at a cost in a years time?

The cup like the 240R is a post purchase conversion, the difference being the R has bespoke trim and they only built 50 in that form. The Cup will be built to order under the same process but it’s only limited to the number Lotus Sport can build, about 150 a year I beleive with the race commitments they have.

They are post registration, so they are registered as Performance pack S2 exiges and then the work is done, this way they don’t need to meet new car exhaust regs, just MOT levels. The reason the Exige S is lower power is that was the max they could get and meet the new car regs…

Looking at the option prices they come out about the same cost if you went for an S with performance package, aircon, Olins, LSD, accusump, rear brace bar, wheels… So if you are planning on modding the car later it might pay to have it built by lotus in the first place?

Thanks for clearing that up mate, new there must be a reason for all of this. I agree I wouln’t bother with the exige s just get a cup240-with black wheels though!

There were only 50 240 Cup built of which around 20 were registered for the UK. There are still 2 left at the factory as of last week, 1 in Ardent Red and one in Aspen White. (I’ve got a nice black one sitting outside my office)

When I spoke to Lotus last week about some bits and pieces on my 240R… they said the Cup was in production for the forseeable future…??? If people want them, they’ll build them???

Got it then, you won’t need mine for test drives
