Will the exige S be coming to the USA? Does anyone own this car and what do you think about it?
Thank You,
Robert

I’d have thought they’d do what they did with the std Exige. Try it out in Europe first.
They’ll want to iron out the SC problems first.
Ian
If it does, it will NOT be street legal, it will be a track only car. This is because it will not be emmisions approved and would be too costly for Lotus to jump through the Federal hoops.

That makes it kind of difficult to explain the hot-weather road testing in Arizona though.
Thats a shame for Lotus, and you for that matter; I imagine you yanks would relish a car that manages to achieve serious straight-line performance without consuming superfluous amounts of petrol, sorry, gas…
Just how strict are these emissions laws, and how come older, dirtier cars can get away with it and not a nice new Lotus? Besides, there is only a difference of 8g/km between the CO2 emissions of the Exige and Exige S, (not that I know if 8g/km is very much, or even what it means, but it can’t be too much, can it… )

Is there not away around that if its a dealer fit option?

They’ll be doing that for the Ozzie market and Europe once global warming really gets going.
Ian
Jeez IDG, y’mean Lotus are going to continue with the current Exige 'til global warming kicks in
Plenty of time to save for a series 3 then
Tim.
You want to be careful throwing epithets like that around as I’m an expat thank you very much
I would very much enjoy a 240R but I want a car that is street legal and a track car. The Elise/Exige made it over here because Toyota had federalised the engine. Not that I really know what all of that means anyway.
Oh and Steve,
I have talked several times to LCUSA and they tell me that they cannot sell the SC parts even to an owner of car that is no longer registered for the strett. The reason being that the car has a street version VIN. This is why I cannot upgrade my existign Exige with Lotus parts. The S I believe will be a track only car just as the S1 was and can then be sold for track use only. Sadly if I were to go this route I may as well buy a Stohr and have somne serious performance for the same price.
So I don’t think it is the difficulty of getting an engine approved but the time and mainly the cost that is prohibitive for a small company. Oh and this is the government remember and since when did any governments rules make sense
I remeber lotus along time ago. I was reminded of them while watching the exige S topgear. The car looked briliant. So the exige S is not currently in the USA? Will they be bringing it here ever? How much does the exige S cost anyway?
thanks
Well a current direct conversion from to $ puts it in the $70+ arena.
Ian
So 70 for Exige S. Could you just supercharge the exige?
What is the base price for the exige in the USA?
Thanks for the help
