I thought the US tests showed that it made little difference to air flow at the cooler? Its an interesting one I must admit, I guess at the end of the day you will always be limited to the airflow at the narrowest point but if your catching more air does that increase the speed of it with a venturi effect?
Also I have seen talk that with the bigger scoop you catch more warm air from the front radiators? All things to consider I guess.
Thanks for that, the garage has already changed the design of the jubilee clips but to no avail. The car is still just under warrenty so I will bring this to the garages attention. How effective was the fix?
The rubber that is jubilee clipped from the roof scoop to the intercooler is always coming off! Has anyone else had this and how have they sorted it?
Thanks
There is a Lotus fix which should be done under warranty where they put reinforcing rings inside the plastic ducts so the jubilee clips have something rigid to work against. I would guess you car is relatively early so don’t know how the warranty will work out.
Hi, they should of fitted metal incerts into the plastic to strengthen it, once done you wont have any further problems
I have re fitted the cooler again tonight, the solid mounts were a little short so I put them ontop of a single tap washer and this gave the correct clearance. The intercooler is now well clear of the boot but I do still have the squeek even though the thing is seriously rigid now I will track it down when I have the time
As for the cooler well I took the thing out for a test drive and it was frankly stunning, I dont think I have felt it pull so hard and I had a friend in with me! I dont want to use a tired clich but third felt like second etc…
I am very very happy

I was going to post a similar post about being in a lower gear analogy … but thought better of it … (pesky might pipe up ! )
I have a friend who races bikes whom I spend hours on the phone to (fellow trucker)… I called him (handsfree) today while i was out… he heard the motor and instantly commented words to the effect of … OMG … WTF …(Point is that he could hear the change on his phone !)
I parked the car at my Mothers before I got a ban !

Here’s an update on my cooling project that has been happening over the last couple of months :
First mod was to fit a Forge Motorsport cooler…
This eliminated my heatsoaking but I didn’t notice an increase in power.
Second mod was to fit a bigger roof scoop in front of the existing standard scoop…
This looks good and I think makes the car look more aggressive.
Again I didn’t notice any power increase.
Third mod was to do as Boothy has done here…
Easy to do and cost free, took about an hour.
“BLOODY HELL” there is a very marked increase in power and gone are the holes in the throttle response…
I kid you not, the engine also sounds very different!
Now my “s” is turning into the quick car I always knew it should be .
Go dremel your slots boys… what a difference
Ps. other mods Ive done:
Trd airbox and filter
Lotus stage 3 exhaust.
Your roof scoop looks great!,what sort of price are we talking?
Got this fitted today! Finally managed a blast without it popping off! Thanks again!
Amy other ‘‘fix’s’’ that might be worth getting done while the car is still under warranty?

Sorry Steve! Looks like I was too clever for my own good (it’s not hard). What turn of phrase? I just thought you must have been bored and dug up a 3 year old thread.
