Exige S engine specs

Sorry if this has been asked before, but couldn’t find it in the archives. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the differences in engine spec between the 220bhp Exige S, the 240PP, and the 260 Cup. My understanding is that the 240 just has bigger injectors and a different ecu map compared to the 220 (and the roof scoop of course)- is this right? And does the 260 just add a larger intercooler, or dos it have other mods too. I guess it must as presumably you wouldn’t get 20bhp extra just from a slightly bigger intercoler?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark I looked into upgrading my 218BHP S at the factory and was sent the folowing;

Looks like the 240 is achieved by a bigger roof scoop, larger injectors and remap. The 255 is the same as the 240 with a larger fuel pump, air box and larger intercooler added over the 240. I was told that neither power upgrades would be carried out unless accompanied by the AP 4 pot brake upgrade.

Hope this help

Harvey

Many thanks for the info Harvey - just what I was looking for.

Have you asked for the prices for this upgrade?

Q.

The new Cup 260 has the standard 220 intercooler as well.

Look: Lotustalk

I got told a few weeks back from a chap in motorsport that to go from 240pp to 260 was injectors, remap and 2.5k!

Gav

Clucking bells 2.5K…

or you could just pay Sinclaires for a Gotham ECU remap/injectors 1500 and get 255bhp and 175lb/ft.

Now that sounds more like it

How does the Toyota box hold up to this increase in power?

That HP should be no problem for the Exige gearbox, obviously it will limit the life of your clutch.

My (STANDARD) 240 CUP has 243 BHP (in the catalogue  ) and no big brake kit or large roofscoop as standard.

So the bigger roofscoop is not needed to hit the 240 mark. How to determine the the injector size? I will look if I can find a part no. on them.

Cheers

Q.

The 240 Cup cars are quite different from the S PP and late cup cars.
AFAIK they are cable throttle rather than electronic. Had a fifth injector and original N/A injectors plus a modified N/A roof rather than the S or PP roof.
It was the first SC Exige they had done and the S was designed on it.

Ade,

That is not right the limited version 240R (2005, 40 made in black and yellow) had a cable throttle. The 240 CUP (2006) has an electronic throttle and is similar to the S and PP. Above the 240 PP spec the 240 CUP has twin oil coolerr and better fully adjustable dampers.

Have you come to a conclusion on why your gearbox failed Ade ?

Hope you get going again soon btw

Q
I stand corrected, I forgot there were 2 models almost named the same…

jfk

Just got the car back with a new gearbox, I now need to find the time to strip it down, but I have since found out that 3rd is the most poular gear to go (like mine) as it is the narrowist of all of them. Just not sure if it was the input or output side that failed. I might never know as I drove it home from Spa the first hundred miles were very noisy untill all the old broken bits fell off :frowning:
