Hi. Having had an s1 and then gone into racing in caterhams and lotus for a few years I am now packing that in but picked up an exige s with sports pack for fun. Keen to get a few upgrades.
Looking to change the factory bilstein adjustables, disks , pads, … Keen to grab some advice. Does randy have some specific spec nitrons for the exige as he does for elise?
Are the two pots good enough for track day work. They were ok for my elise trophy car but with 220 available as breaking for paddock I want to be sure.
Thoughts on rear toe link upgrades , lighter wheels than the standard.
Cooling of the charger??? Driving hard on track days…do I need to do anything with this.
Advice much appreciated before I start ready for spring and get the race boots back on…for fun…
By “Paddock” do you mean “Paddock Hill Bend” at Brands? If so, man up and stay off the brakes!
Loads of posts on here covering everything you have asked, I guess really it depends if you want the car to be capable, or you want to throw loads of dosh at it.
Yeah I reckon the 2 pots would do ya, but personally would go 4 pots and bigger disks.
Dont upgrade the intercooler unless you are going to a charge cooler.
Thanks… I will dig around the exiges site and see what I can gather.
I don’t really want to throw loads of cash at the car just enough to get it more track oriented with better brakes and enough adjustable elements to get the handling as I like it for each circuit I visit.
GMT - welcome. Suprised your time in cats and Lotus racing has not given you a stong view to answer your own questions. You actually sound more qualified to answer these questions than many on this site (myself included!)
To be honest the stock setup is pretty good on track with two exceptions:
Brake Pads & Fluid
Intercooler heatsoak (additional ducting & opening up the air scoop)
After that, suspension and geo probably make the biggest difference. Oh and a few driving lessons on track so you know the right lines and braking zones.
