Exige race car: Eligibility????

I’m asking on behalf of a potential client who after a few seasons racing Radicals, and just having had a year out, is looking to get into racing again, and is considering the possibility of an Exige, or possibly a 211. The idea is to move away from the fragility of Radicals, but without going to a heavyweight such as a 911.

The obvious category to race in is the Lotus On Track series, but they’re wondering what other championship’s the car might be eligible for. There’s a lot of appeal for them in endurance type racing so Britcar/Belcar options could be available, but also perhaps things like the Castle Coombe Special GT’s.

If anybody could suggest any suitable championships, that would be really helpful. The car would obviously have to be modified for racing, but keeping it eligible for as many series as possible without sacrificing competetiveness (is that even a word?)is the idea.

Thanks,
James.

As for other series, Castle Combe Special GT is an obvious one and Mark Furnell already runs his car in both series. Another one is Dutch Supercar, there are a few S2 Exiges running in that series already. Similarly there are Exiges running in Britcar.

I also believe that Russ is still running in the occasional AMOC endurance race which a few guys used to do on the same bill as the old Mid-engined championship.

Hi James,

There’s a few of the cars from the old Mid-Engined Sportscars series which compete in the BRSCC LMA Euro Saloons championship. Don’t know whether it’d be a problem for you or not but there’s a very wide mix of cars in this - always seems to produce very close racing though!

Sure somebody else will suggest some other alternatives too.

Hi Mate, there are two possibilities on the AMOC bill, the endurance and a new GT series which we are going to try out at Oulton on the 15th September - why don’t you bring him along, or again Donington September 30th?

Cheers
Russ.

ps - are you free September 1/2nd (Donington LoT)? We have a shortage in the trouser department as Edwards senior is away.

I am racing a S/C Honda elise in the LMA Championship run by the BRSCC.Its a ‘slicks’ championship, always full grids and very competitive.

I also race in Britcar & Production S1. According to the reg’s its not strictly eligible due to the engine conversion but I got clearance from the organizer & it doesn’t seem to be an issue. Although I reckon if I’d won the championship maybe they’d have had a sulk about it!

Hey Steve, how is it going? Fancy Oulton AMOC on the 15th September?

Is that the blue one with the silver stripes? I used to help run Paul Hogarths 997, and hopefully will be again for the Silverstone 24hrs, I’m sure I must have seen you before.

It does sound like your car spec is the sort of thing we’re aiming for though, might be useful to have a chat sometime.

Russ, not sure on the 1st/2nd September, it would be nice to be working and I’ve hopefully got something lined up (Porsche again ), but if it doesn’t transpire I’ll be more than happy to pop along and lend a hand.

Would definitely like to get to an AMOC GT session though, I’ll let you know.

No mine’s the Red one with the white viper stripes. The blue one is the Charlton car.

I am contemplating entering the Production S1 race & /or the Dutch super car race at the silverstone 24HR weekend so if you are there just come over and I’d be happy to chat.
