exige on fire at Bedford

Hope no one was hurt

So get an extinguisher and wearing a race suit on a trackday is too much?

What happened?

how many people on here actually wear a race suit at trackdays ? I wonder what other people in the padock think of people who wear them … not that it matters if it saves your skin.

Was this an S1 or S2? interested to know what happened? Might have to invest in a suit…

I think it was a Honda’d S1, but I may be wrong.

:frowning:

I keep thinking of the benefits of a suit, but don’t people think they look like they are trying too hard on trackdays?

I’d wear one, but doesn’t it give the impression you are meant to know what you are doing

Damon

I (& others on here)used to think that too. However, after seeing a few instances of cars on fire on track, I decided that a suit is a bloody good idea.

Thats what I was trying to say. I cant help thinking this when I see those chaps walking around the paddock. Maybe its time to have a rethink. Do they do them to fit someone with a 50" waist, 30" chest and a 3" … ?

I am considering one for my return to track.

I personally don’t care what others think…they’d stare at me more if I had burned skin!!!

I don’t get to hung up on the ‘competitive’ side of trackdays and in most cases you have to say each to there own and enjoy your day. Its a bit like the average F430 owner pootling round…sure he gets in your way but he is enjoying himself.

So thats it decided for the next exiges.com? Full race atire allowed only

Rob, most manufacturers are doing a vintage suit or two these days

I like that helmet! :sunglasses:

Before going on my first trackday, I asked if I should buy a flame suit…

The response was “if you wear one, you better be fucking good”

PMSL

Yeah and if you are not wearing one and your car catches light you best be quick too!

I wear a race suit. Yes I realise people think I look a dick (what’s new ?) but I don’t care, that’s their issue.

I was one of those that sneered too until an Exiges.com member (I forget who) relayed the scary story of his catching fire. If you can, why wouldn’t you wear one ? Seems ludicrous for inverted snobbery to take precedence over safety.

Agreed.

Damon. Nice race suit and classic race boots…
I’v always had a secret yearning for that design, showing my age I guess. Tell you what , I will if You will !!!
Group buy??
A tad worried about being regarded as a poser by the “Paddock Sneererss” :astonished: but with a stealth orange car I suppose they are right!!
Have fun

I wore mine at the last track day I did at Oulton. I decided to wear it on the drive there as I only live down the road. Unfortunately the rest of the lads decided that we were going for a pub lunch in the posh place down the road…who looked a real to55er there then!

Seriously though, I’m used to wearing the suit for rallying and I always wear it for a trackday. It’s alright thinking that you’re not going to push so hard that you stuff the car but plenty can happen when you start having fun. I was thinking the same on a tarmac rally in my Elise when the crank shaft oil seal gave way on a fast straight, the car was filled with smoke in seconds. Nervous moments indeed, luckily no damage to the car as we caught it in time.

Spot on Wes - you don’t need to crash, to have a fire start.

That suit up the top looks rather nice!

I’m 31 btw

In the Roller
