Exige + Elise ?

Does anyone own both an Exige & Elise - using the Elise as an everyday car? I love the Exige, but miss the old Elise I had to trade-in. Looks like a reasonable early one can be picked up for around 15K…Cheers all,Phil

PhilRob Gibbons had an Exige, a caterham and an Elise. At the last count I think he had 2 elises (elisi?) and several norwich and norfolk terriers oh and a Ka!Tony

RussT does of course have an Exige, & his partner, Debs, has an Elise Mk2. (I shall not provide details of their menagerie!!!)If he behaves himself, he is often “allowed” to take the Elise to visit some roundabouts [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]

Cheers guys, looks like I could possibly justify it then [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]Continuing my question then… Which Lotus dealer is currently in favour in the South/SE?

I have an Exige and an early (P) Elise. Personally I prefer the Elise on the public highway anyway, although I would like to put LSS on it at some stage. In fact I have ended up pretty much dedicating the Exige to track use, as I found it hard work keeping the Exige in the enjoyment bubble on the busy roads around mine anyway. A friend of mine is selling this one if you are interested…Elise for sale:1998 - R reg - 49,000 milesNorfolk mustard, black leather/green alcantara trim, stereo, headlight covers, sports exhaust, uprated suspension, drilled discs, 225 tyres, 1 owner, FLSH, 12 months tax and MOT.13,250 ONOCheers

I would agree that to buy an Elise at the moment go private. Buy a copy of ‘Top Marques’ and there are plenty for sale in the ‘extreme power’ section. I recently discovered that most Dealers in the South look for at least 3k margin. A dealer buy for an Exige, with the warranty, may well be worth it, but the Elise is so simple and the engine so basic the warranty risk on a private buy has to be minimal - provided you get a good one. Notice how many private sellers are stressing ‘no track days’ - with good reason!

Thanks for the info guys, having had a look on Autotrader and Vauto.net (shameless plug) I can see there’s a rather big difference in trade/private.- Ian - Thanks for the tip and also don’t forget Brooklands on Saturday! There should be three Exiges there, all priced at 15 a go - BARGAIN!!- Mark - I’m more inclined to go for a low mileage example, though the colour is right…
