Exige De-CAT?

Anyone De-CAT’d their Exige yet? How did the car respond to it, any adverse effects apart from an MIL light?

Was the noise greatly increased? I’m thinking de-CAT on an standard Exige S with a Stage 3 (one designed for SC cars) exhaust. I know sports CAT’s seem the way to go but swapping around for MOT’s is not a problem for me and I’m pretty partial to flames… its the one thing I miss from my old car.

I presume it won’t effect fueling due to the second lamda been an emissions check and not part of the fuel adjustment system. And I guess the Lotus / Toyota ECU is advanced enough to adjust for any fueling increases for the increased flow of gasses.

Ta!

No one what so ever!?!

It seems the Lotus ECU is a tad quirky/difficult to re-map from what I,ve gathered on this forum…

I know where you’re coming from applying conventional wisdom to your new Lotus

Seems that the only successful re-map facility of the Lotus ECU at the moment are Sinclaires…

I also have a std. S …
From what I’ve gathered the last 5 months is that :

  1. Yes the motor is well tuneable…(325+)
  2. Not worth doing it bit by bit (re-mapping for every mod)
  3. As a serious shopping list reckon on…
    600 injectors
    1000 4/1 manifold and box
2000 chargecooler(in summer ECU radically retards Ignition)
X amount for smaller pulley + rolling road mapping/labour etc.

For me I will be getting all the work done in one go to avoid numerous MIL’s … I really think though that waiting a few months will pay dividends , as , modding the S is still in early days…

Tubular website has just posted a header page that is informative

Cheers, I’m deciding how far I want to go in the power stakes but I kinda figured I could get away with a De-CAT and TRD Airbox without any mapping adjustments as the mass air flow meter, and 1st lambda should adjust for these minor adjustments.

I know a full map would be required to get more power and if pulley sizes, etc were changed.

Previous car was a 343bhp 1.8T VAG lump, great fun until it decided to melt piston / bore #3 at the Nurburgring. Bought the Exige as a car that would handle the track a bit better and didn’t really need to much doing to it.

I avoided the de-cat option as it was going to make it too loud for some tracks, I still have issues with drive by with the sport cat a 24x8 2bular gt3 and around 300hp it sounds quiet in the car but apparently sound like a rocket going by from outside…
There are however several MIL illimiator kit available if you want to run decat, I doubt you will need a tune but you won’t gain much HP, the best mods will need tunes for if you want power, if you want noise then a decat will give you that

I’m not expecting a power gain, just don’t want a power loss or to risk running the engine lean. All I’m doing the TRD box and de-cat is for a bit more charger whine and the possibility of flames… with the standard CAT I get a cheeky blue flame every now and then.

Also the little mods will compliment further mods like charge cooler, manifold, injectors and gotham in the future.

I know about MIL Eliminators fitted one to my mates VX220 Turbo which has worked a treat, hopefully will do the trick on the Exige too.

I fitted a 2bular decat and eliseparts MIL to my NA s2 exige.

Worked a treat and gave some blue flames ( youtube has a video!)

I sold it to Marc O on here when i sold my car. It was very loud with the 4.75" ultra exhaust and the decat, not sure what it would sound like with the SC.
