I must say, that I find it really disturbing that while there are two Elise variants listed on the Lotus website, there are 5 versions of the “hardcore” Exige.
From my understanding, the Elise has always been the one built in higher quantities and more of a mainstream product compared to the “raw” Exige.
A bit like imagening BMW bringing out a 325i and a 328i and 5 different M3 specs.

Being such a niche product, having a few versions of the Exige widens the customer base to tailor individual needs.

I’d have thought that with the Eagle and Esprit coming soon, Lotus must be too busy to make any major revisions to the Elise/Exige.
The comment was that it was ironic that with nothing new for a while everything was going to come at the same time.
Limited editions have been a way of life for Lotus and if it sells cars to finance new models may it continue…they must sell well as they wouldn’t do it…Must say I quite like the look of that one. When I got my 55 plate Exige in Nov 05 I got a great deal because it was an 05 and not 06 car so not a bad time to buy if you can get that great deal and don’t want the latest lights, seats, cup holders etc.
