WELL THAT EXPLAINS THE EXTRA WEIGHT! Rather high up too.
Nice to know it’s real though.

As you can see, our intrepid reporters had to dress in drag to get on the Lotus Stand:

more pics here french forum
Hmmm, interesting pics there.
Whats happend to the bloody great airbox (tool kit??) sat above the engine in the show picture of the engine bay. On the pic looking at the front of the car it’s diappeared leaving a nice clear view out of the rear
Maybe the guy at Lotus who ‘sorted’ the rear visibility on the S2 has worked his magic again
Tim.
I think you’ll find that tool box is the intercooler

Ah, yes. But the toolkit would explain it’s disappearence in the other pics.
Tim.
Wonder if they’ll go to the trouble of relocating the intercooler so as to make it suitable for the Elise? (I somehow doubt it.)
It still seems like a large weight penalty – 55kg – over the standard car that the 240R pays.
a large weight penalty
It’s not all bad - realised that with that big box in the engine bay I could remove the now completely useless rear view mirror - that’s gotta get 200/300 grammes back
Looks like a trip to the local ‘ICE’ store is required for one of those rear view cameras/mirrors after all…assuming Lotus do actually get around to offering the S/C as an add-on.
We’ll have to see what the official Toyota conversion adds to the Celica weight wise & how it is installed in the Car.
Maybe they’ll do a smaller/less powerful version that will go into an Elise/S2 Exige & not affect the rear view.
This months Evo reckons it could happen…
Tim.

Na, it’s the main reason they created the S2 Exige with its ‘fast back’.

Our turbo package only adds 20 pounds/9 kilograms and if you upgrade the battery to our dry cell PC680 you only are adding 10 pounds /4.5 kilograms! Not a bad gain when we give you over 240 whp with our turbo set up. Stay tuned for our UK / European distributor.
I asked a question in the above thread regarding the body-kit you’re in the throws of creating, specifically relating to the rear-wing (midway down the page) – any chance you could take a stab at answering it?
Thanks in advance.

We are planning on doing more of a Sport Exige style wing than the 240R one. Hope that helps.
ForceFed, r u working with Joe McCarthy?
I hope not.

Hello Guys,
We are not working with Joe Mcarthy? I am not sure who even is??
It’d be a shame to stick too large a rear-wing on the car as, personally, and I know others’ opinions on this will differ, I like cars to look relatively understated (or maybe it’s simply that I hate large rear-wings). The Sport Elise looks great though, large rear wing or not (looks a lot like the McLaren without the rear-wing . . . no bad thing . . . hopefully with your 400hp turbo performance will take a large step towards that of the McLaren too).
Hard for any exige to look understated unless underneath a plastic rain cover !!
