after a bit of investigation on an annoying tizz/rattle it seems my exhaust heat sheilding is rattling against my undertray, and splitting around the screw fastens.
i dont like the look of it anyway as the silver shows both sides through the rear vents.
i dont want the full on track look of the eliminator kit, but fancy having a go at wrapping the exhaust.
anyone done this?
i have ordered 10 m of graphite coloured wrap and 8 stainless steel wraps.
figure i wrap from the engine to the back box??
the sheilding on the right as you look at the back of the car seems to be just "general " sheilding
has anyone removed this, and are there any consequences??
thx

p.s cross posted on mloc my usual stomping ground, but thought this was more relavent to the knowledgeable folk of exiges.com
Mine has not had any shields or wrap on it since I put my 2bular exhaust and sport cat on.
I did however keep a close eye on all area for quite a while till I was comfortable it wasn’t going to melt.
Hey, How is it going with this thread? I have a hard time to get my Exige through Dutch MOT probably due to poor sport cat working at Idle speed ruining my CO value’s.
So now I also got the idea of exhaust wrapping my exhaust to keep more heat in the gasses. Is there any negative effects?
Keeps under hood temps lower.
Because of lower under hood temps, the surrounding air is cooler improving the power of engines especially turbo engine’s.
Exhaust temps are higher thus having higher viscosity and lower flow giving less power.
Exhaust wrap can cause so high temps in manifolds that they disintegrate.
Exhaust wrap can collect moisture so exhaust systems rust quicker.
Some exhaust system warranties might not be applicable if they where wrapped.
Some on SELOC have wrapped the U-shaped tube to avoid the clamp melting.
Some use the more expensive ceramic coating.
