I dont mind the sound of it as its pretty quiet and no drone. However I am curious if a “stage 3” exhaust would yield any gains , or would it just be louder and a different sound?
Generally, exhausts make no power difference, just feel good (or bad) noise. I always like the Chris Tullett, Eliseparts, exhaust I had on my S2. It was nice and quiet and repackable.
I did quite a bit of testing on the dyno with my SC car, we found most exhausts made little to no difference, the manifold however made huge differences, one manifold made a huge loss when fitted and took 2 hours of mapping to eventually gain 5hp, it did however yield quite a bit of mid range torque though, not sure an NA car would care as much. We were trying to gain as much power as possible without going below a 2.9" pulley, ended up with ~310hp 285@ the hubs
I am not desperate for more power , it was more the noise mine makes when on WOT making it sound like a jet fighter and restricted somewhere ( most likely the manifold now you mention it …
My Cat makes me nervous, it looks like my car has had an OEM cat failure in the past because it’s got a pattern part replacement on it. I’m sure it’s fine, but I’m expecting it to ruin a trackday at any moment.
The manifold was a big bore 2bular one from Jim, we ran it as a test product to see if it gained any extra power as I was running 300+ at the time, it was a mega big bore and I don’t think ever made another as it was so hard to make.
