Gents,
The manifold is off the car, but what is the best way to get it out? I don’t think it’ll come out of the bottom without oil filter removal, and unsure whether it’ll come out from the top at all! Please guide me…
Cheers,
Kurt

Remove heat shield
Remove engine mounting at the sump
Remove the lower exhaust bolt to the rear of the block
Rock engine forward - needs a bit of persuasion
The manifold should then be extracted (with patience) from the top - remember to disconnect the lambda sensor1

Have always taken them out the bottom in the past. Oil filter and rear engine mount off, rock forward and then after a bit of jiggling around it sort of just pops out. This is if we are talking about the standard Exige/Janspeed one. Standard Elise comes out the top easier.
Ok, I’m now back in the garage. Heat shields were a bit awkward but I’ve noticed brackets cracked/sheared, so I hope replacements are available. I took the lower rear mount off, and the manifold just dropped down (sadly not out!) but managed to hit the back of the alternator, which sparked like billeo! Please tell me I’ve not fried it?!? Naturally I have since disconnected the battery…(I feel a right dick, I’m not normally so gash, but feel hurried to get it done).
I think the alternator should be ok Kurt, but depending on what exactly arced it ‘may’ have blown the battery light on the Stack dash.
I managed to get it out, and it was an absolute pita! It came out from the underside, and the heatshields were a bit of a game too. I’ve noted a couple of brackets that have sheared, one being A111E6224F, which is now on back order from Lotus via deroure. Any idea how long this process takes??
Cheers,
Kurt
