Exhaust change

Hi guys,
I’ve got a stage 2 exhaust on my S2 exige at the moment which is great for playing out with but I’m going over to europe a few times this year and I think it’ll be too wearing to drive long distance. Just wondered, how easy is it to change the pipe back to the standard exhaust? I could do with some advice as I’m not all that mechanical but I’m keen not to give JCT 100 if I can help it…
Advice please
Regards Pete.

I have swapped exhausts several times now on my own car and for friends. It is really pretty easy, althought getting at the nearside exhaust mounting involves a bit of swearing and skinned knuckes. Usually seems to take about 1hr to do the job, but allow double that if it is the first time. It helps if there are 2 of you, especially fitting the standard exhaust as it is really heavy, so one can hold up the exhaust while the other does up the mountings. There is an excellent guide here 2Bular 111R silencer (complete with fitting guide & piccys!) - Page 1 - Elise/Exige/Europa/340R - PistonHeads UK

The must be a 120 mile round trip to JCT for you then? I would definitely be looking for somewhere closer if you don’t fancy doing it yourself.

I know they sometimes take alot of flack but my local Kwik Fit boys are spot on and they would certainly be cheaper than a main dealer - after all there is nothing really special about the exhaust on an Exige.

Thanks Mark, that’s spot on I think I’ll get the tools and give it a go

Yeh, you’re right Steve it’s about 140 miles round trip so it’s not something I really want to do…

DIY oil changing and brake pad replacement next Peter

Simon, good to hear from you! yeh, I think with all my new found free time I’m heading in that direction

Peter NYLOC inbetweenie meeting is at Jolly Farmer pub in Dalton, a village just south of Thirsk on 11 Jan - tomorrow night. Won’t be there myself - but no doubt lots of usual culprits will be
