Ex-Lotus management (Track?) car

A mate of mine who’s looking for an Exige has posted this elsewhere reagarding what’s said to be an ex-Lotus Management car.

should i be concerned buying one?

certainly shows signs of being driven on track - wear from left foot bracing in footwell. drives fucking lovely though 1 yr old and 13k on the clock…

chrome orange 58 NA exige sports pack - didn’t realise that they did them that late either…

I’m sure NA production ended far earlier than 58 reg. Any thouights on buying this car or the year of registration?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds very much like and ex-Silverstone car. A call to Lotus customer services with the reg. no and they will give you the history.

If it is an ex-Silverstone car then Lotus will not honour any remaining warranty on the car.

Search YouTube for Silverstone experience days and you’ll see how the cars get treated.

Where has he posted that? I have not seen it yet. We are talking about Skiddo (Paul) here right?
He sent me the txt yesterday and the first thing I sais was NA production was stopped well before that. think they stopped at 07 plate IIRC.
I have had two ex lotus cars and my latest one I got because the exige S I bought new was a shocker so I traded it for this. Both have been great but neither were ex track cars and personally I dont think I would have one.
He really should be told if its an ex track car as I know when CN’s sell them they make the buyer aware of the cars history.
Personally I would not buy one as it won’t have a proper warranty and I don’t think I would ever feel happy with it even if it was cheap.

it is me! posted it on type 116 andy.

car has remaining 1 year warranty - it’s an 07 exige regestered 01/09/08.

i asked if it was a track car and they said it would be classed ex demo and not ex lotman.

you can clearly see the wear in the footwell here:

was gonna go drop off a cheque this morning. might hold back and talk to lot cust services in the morning.

found it on pistonheads - seems to clear it up.

Forgot you were a member here Paul. Next time post your own bliddy messages

My 2p - Isn’t that a car that was lying around for a year unsold then given to a Lotus guy to get shot of it? Still makes it an 07 NA (even if it’s registered later) and they want a lot of money for it. If you’re planning on spending that sort of cash then get an “S”.

I agree, for 25k you could get an S, or offer silly money for it

25K!!! :astonished:

Have to agree, I say go with an S for that money mate. I think it will be a pig to get shut of to as it won’t book. Another of my mate’s has just had this problem and his NA was on an 07 plate. Even the lotus dealer’s were struggling to know what to give him for it.
Bite the bullet and put up with the extra tyre wear

Boothy

p.s. whats type 116? off to google.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRR my eyes!!! somebody warn me before I do that again.

The footwell wear is just the natural place for the clutch foot to rest between changes, doesn’t signify track or heavy use.

cheers for the replies - i couldn’t think of any reason for the wear if the foot was just resting? unless he had a twitch and sandpaper shoes!

will ring 'em and get the chassis number tomoz.

Tee Hee . Type116 is a great forum frequented only by us old gits who bucked the trend and bought VXs in the early years. Since the chavs moved in on the original VX forum us oldies set up our own.

It may be called Type116 but we rarely discuss VXs as almost no one on there owns one now.

Shows how bad there are\where then

thanks for all the help and input.

spoke to lotus, car is an 07NA eventually registered to a regional sales manager 01/09. paul, paul and joe at grange lotus were good to do business with.
got it for a price i was happy with and have the remaining warranty.

Welcome back, Paul :sunglasses:

How many friggin Pauls are there on this thread?
