Evora Test Drive

Still smiling, big thanks to Scott at Bell Colvill

Its a grown up Exige

Cross country you could have a lot of fun the suspension is sooo compliant and yet the feel is there too, looks great in the flesh, is comfortable, more room, more practical.

Only problem is that I think youd still want your Exige for Track use however, get used to letting the car do the work and Im pretty sure the Evora would carry huge speed through corners.

Yes its bigger, heavier, 2nd 3rd a bit on the long side but the longer gearing and engine sound suits the cars persona.its a joy.

Take the basic car add sports ratio gearing and sport pack it would a GT you could use on track

By now you would of gathered I liked it.

If what you tested was a ‘launch spec’ car, it will have the short ratio’s.

Gear spacing is one of very few driving gripes i’ve read about the car

Certainly its my only gripe and thats gotta to be good

Evora in Red with Dark Alloys Id be a very happy man

Tim, I had a go in CN’s Evora yesterday, launch spec but didnt have the sport box apparently, so possibley not all will have it?

I do fancy a go in one of these, I haven’t really read anything bad about them.

What do you think of the build quality?

Also what are the rear seats like? are they really rear seats, or is it just somewhere to throw your coat?

Have they started depreciating yet?

Sean

Lotus had one at Silverstone last Monday - for test drives on the road, not track!

Although I thought the colour (yellow) didn’t suit the car, it appeared to be very well built, both externally & internally. The “rear seats” are just about big enough to carry a case of Bisto, but not a human

I didn’t drive it, so can’t comment on that aspect.

Overall, it looked a cracking 2 seater, GT touring car.

I thought it was well put together and thought out, it has a bigger footprint and the ride is more GT but still amazingly sharp.

Rear seats would just about fit my 8 year daughter and a friend on a school run. Boot is a decent size etc etc

Cant find anything used priced up without rear seats with sports ratio gear box, stealth grey wheels, ardent red with colour coded door handles and sports pack your talking 49k

Tiff just ‘tested it’… did he test the other occupants too!

I think we need to wait for the more powerful engine…

…and please lets get rid of that satnav! Think it lets the whole interior down… just a bit too ‘Tom Tom’!

Well I drove it today, simply stunning! I know it sounds sad but you really do feel the lotus DNA, it just feels like a big elise, pointy, grippy yet so smooth. I cant believe how comfy and quiet it is. You need to work the engine a little but it picks up its heels when you do and goes pretty well.
Fit and finish felt great, just hope it stays like that! I think its a true GT but really feels like it could turn it on on the track.
