Everyday tyres

Gents,

I’m in a bit of a dilema. I want to drive the Exige more, especially when it’s been tuned by Emerald in October. I have the use of my motorbike and a pushbike also. I’d like to rid myself of the second car(it’s actually my primary set of wheels)and use the Exige when I have to use a car for practical reasons (a bit of food shopping, picking our daughter up). Am I being unrealistic? I realise that using the OE spec Yoko’s are going to break me financially (!) but what all weather tyres would make a practical choice. First hand experience would be appreciated.
Educate me please!

Regards,
Kurt

Think about Toyo R1R’s or Yoko AD08’s.

Both had good reviews from fellow enthusiasts.

After 8 years on AO48’s in Sun Rain snow and ice I will now use R1R’s all year and keep the 48’s for track days.

ad08’s if they come in your sizes. they work for me everyday…

I’m using conti sport 3 on rear and 2 on front. Perfect for road use but I’d say they’d get tired pretty fast on a dry track day.

My spend on tyres has almost ground to a halt since I got the second set of rims - the track rims only ever see road on the way to and from track.

Has anyone on here tried Federal

I’ve put Federal RS-Rs on my saxo since i was getting through 888s on the front very quickly and i wanted something better for tracking in winter.

They’re less sticky with deeper tread and the pattern looks like it could shift water. I wouldn’t use them on the exige but they’re a good tyre, probably a good bet if you only have one set of rubber year round.

I put bridgestone RE11s, Excellent dry grip with good water channeling…

Scatty, AD08’s ordered! Cheers marrer…

Wow, ordered before 1pm yesterday, arrived 9am today, thanks Camskill! Now to get them fitted without the wheels being damaged…

Wow! AD08 are good but so expensive here. Nice choise.
AFAIC slick or semislick tyres should be carefully kept during winter when the temperature is below 0, or there is a big chance for tyres to loose all it’s grip after freezing.

The new tyres are on, fitted without the tyre fitter messing them up. It’s just a shame that I managed to mark them when removing them. One fell over onto the gravel drive, and pock marked the rim!!! I’m so bloody cross with myself! If I get a decent wheel repairer, will they be able to match the finish?

Kurt

Simple answer is yes, that’s the good news.

But it may be one of those situations where you can always tell that wheel looks slightly different to the others ;-(
