Every day transport?

Hi everyone,I know this is probably a crazy question to ask in a Exige forum (I have read many threads, and know how you all rave about the car!) but in all honesty is it a car you can use everyday? I don’t need it to be practical as we have a diesel Volvo estate to cover that [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]. Is it a car I can drive to the occasional business meeting and to work everyday (about 7 miles)? I would like to do some track days as I’ve done quite a few on my bike, but this is NOT the main reason for purchase, I need a form of transport that’ll make me look forward to going to work in the morning!Another thing is that I’ve seen a few advertisers saying “never raced” is this something to beware and how do I spot a vehicle that was once a race car (I take it they don’t mean track days?)All help would be gratefully received.

Jamber, I drive my Exige everyday. That includes daily trips 17 miles to my office. It is the only thing which gets me out of bed and off to work.Unfortunately their is a downside, once I get to work I don’t want to get out of the car. Sometimes you just can’t win.If you intend to buy from a dealer why not ask on this Bulletin Board if the original owner could help with the car history.Good hunting.Logic.

jamberI use mine everyday - 12miles to work and 12 miles back. No problems, esp if you have a more practical alternative if forced. EXIGE will make your trip totally max everytime you drive it. I say JUST DO IT !! As far as worrying about a previous life, i’d say treat it like anything else – ask questions, drive it, look around it, listen for anything untoward. This beastie was built to rev its nuts off a bit like a bike. Happy hunting.

Great, thanks for the feedback. I’ll be sure to register it here when I’ve got it . . gunmetal I think [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]I’ll probably have to go to a dealer because of the GTV trade in. Any recommendations?

Jamber,I wasn’t going to buy a cracking car like the Exige and only look at it as I headed off to work and came home in the evening! It does the 7 mile trip every morning (early on empty roads - woo hoo!).I takes about 3 miles for get it warm and then the next 4 are a (perfectly legal, naturally) blast! If you get one with harnesses (recommended, adds to image and safety) you may have to be a bit careful with a suit as you can arrive looking like you’ve been pulled through a hedge backwards. Don’t be tempted to leave the harnesses loose, or there’s no point in having them. [That said, I haven’t met many Web Designers in suits!]If your journey has more traffic in it or not a lot of interesting (fast) roads then the only kick you’re going to get is ‘the sitting in a racecar’ feeling, oh and the grin from the looks.Certainly take it on the track a few times a year, it really comes alive there! If you’re anyway near Surrey on the 14th Sept there’s going to be a couple of us at Brooklands for a Sporting Bears Motor Club (children’s charity) Dream Rides day - http://www.sportingbears.org.uk . A donation gets you a fast ride.Ian [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

Also use mine everyday, 60 miles each way and absolute love it [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]
