Can anyone point me in direction of cheap European breakdown cover, please.
Just been quoted 123 for 10 days in France by the AA and that price includes a 30% discount for using a special cheap deal “Le Mans” code from Autosport!
And that’s not even in the Exige with its inherent risks!!!
I had normal AA cover and just extended for europ for 59 - covered for all year
Sometimes you can add it to your car insurance - just a thought as you’d probably need to tell them as well

I think I paid 79 for European cover on my S2 for a year with the RAC with whom I am a member.
I think it was 29 for a long weekend, so thought I may as well go for the year.
I use ADAC. This is the German equivalent of the AA.
I paid about 90 for myself and wife for 12 months.
This includes UK cover which they use AA for.
Many Chaps over at SELOC are abandoning the AA and using ADAC for both UK and Euro cover all in one.

Green Flag annual personal policy that includes Euro cover for 120 per annum.
Can recommend the Euro recovery service. Car was picked up in central Spain by a UK driver in an artic wagon kitted out to take multiple cars and it was same wagon and driver that arrived at my house several days later with said car.
Just sad that the only thing wrong was a sticking rear caliper that i could not get a mechanic to look at. Lotus was too “exotic” for them - nearest main dealer was in a different country and green Flag just said we’ll take it home for you and have a hire car for the rest of your holiday!
I seem to make some sort of claim every year but they always seem happy to take my money. It never seems like insurance with a Lotus more an advance part payment…
ADAC for me too. One off payment covers any Euro trips in either the Lotus or my shed / MY98 318iS (and I took my shed to the Ring last years!). Bonus is ADAC will recover from the Ring too.
IIRC, it’s about Euro 79 for the Plus cover. As stated before, covers the entire EU and they use AA in the UK. AA /RAC won’t cover cars over 10 years old unlike ADAC, so quite a few S1’s Elises and Exiges would fall in this bracket now hence the popularity.

Hey, thanks chaps for your prompt and imformative responses. I did in fact type into t’internet “cheap euro breakdown insurance” and Green Flag popped up at a very reasonable 35.99.
I’m amazed that the AA is so expensive, given that I am a current and longtime member.
They are owned by a hedge fund, are they not? Must have big overdrafts to service.
Thanks again.
French farmers can be very helpful … a couple of years ago I was well stuck needing a 24 mm spanner, the first farm we asked at had one and we were on our way !!
Was an alternator nut on a smart car that needed some brutal force (used to export lhd Smarts to France)… in a small way mind !
