I think it is widely known that The Esthi uses the braking system from the Esprit with 6 pot calipers. It also incoperates the Esprit ABS. What may be less wellknown is that these brakes are servo-assisted. Whilst the all up weight of the Esthi is about 200kgs greater than the Exige, the braking power is probably about ten times greater.
Emergency braking is roughly the same as running into a brickwall ie pretty instant. I accelerated about 20ft down my driveway and slammed on the brakes. The car stopped instantly. Well except for about a foot where it tore up the tarmac!!
Ah but is the Espirit ABS as good as the S2 ABS?
Also, the servos must sap some feel. Not that that sense would be working with the wrap factors you’re going to be experiencing!
So what does it weight (sorry if you’ve posted that recently)?
Ian
It still has the prototype rear clam (hand laid) which pushes it up to 990kg. Production clam was 30kg less. The fire suppression system has also added to the weight. Since it has Esprit brakes, I am guessing that the Esprit ABS is more suited although electronic equipment has improved quite a bit since it was introduced.
