Engine Removal

Guys,

Have any of you taken the engine out before…if so, what sort of timescales are we looking at?

Thanks,

Based on my first experience

Rear clam off first, so Trays, rear cover and WAL have to come out first.

So time for that will depend on how many fixings are rusted up etc say 2-3 hours.

Disconnect everything from engine, undo top hub bolts to allow driveshafts to be popped out - drain GB oil … say 2-3 hours

Undo mounts hoist engine out - 1-2 hours ( learning how it hangs etc )

So easy to do in a day … and when experienced I think half a day including tea making is easy.

As Andy says a good 7/8 hours (done on the drive without ramps)if its the first time its been removed, there will be rusted nuts and bolts to contend with and the two clam retention bolts located on the bulkhead can be devilishly fiddly to remove.

Oh and take a note of the spacer washers on the individual clam fixings.

Good luck
